Ok well it DEFINITELY made it ALOT louder, my only concern is that of the speaker and if it could actually handle it. Any comments on that?

Thanks for the reboot tip. I made patches for the files and didn't see a difference. I am rebooting now.

    try editing /etc/audio/b/phone_headset.txt

toward the end of the file:

    begin phone_headset_volume_9
    setreg 0x14 0x25

Change the 25 to a 29 and see if that helps. Change it to 31 if you want to set it at its maximum.

Please let me know if that works...
Patch attached I modified it to say
    begin phone_headset_volume_8
    - setreg 0x14 0x23
    + setreg 0x14 0x29

    and
    begin phone_headset_volume_9
    - setreg 0x14 0x25
    + setreg 0x14 0x31
Will test when bluetooth finishes charging

Seems to raise the volume of all 'media' played through the back speaker including ring tones and other alerts, as well as Pandora, mp3s, etc.

Link to patch based on jctreo's work http://forums.precentral.net/gsm-pre...ml#post2714185

This works for a wired headset, but I don't think it will have any affect for bluetooth. I have not figured out how to make bluetooth louder, either for a phone call or when listening to media (a2dp). I tweaked everything I could think of in the relevant files, but nothing seemed to make a difference.

I am pretty sure that with any of these patches you can blow out a speaker, damage an output amplifier, damage a headset, and/or damage your ears!

Same here man. Just waiting for HP's phone. Im not even gonna bother getting the Pre 2. Unless Palm decides not to offer Webos 2.0 to regular Palm Pre phones.
If you want to buy a Palm Pre is great condition. Here's your chance.

Why waste a new contract on a phone that looks exactly like the one you have right now?
