Wow Fixxxer, see what happens if you put your mind to it. Since I already increased the volume of individual files on my Pre, I won't be able to use this patch for fear of an explosion. Nice work you and mamouton.

I downloaded the .patch file and had internalz run it. All I get is a "Patch failed to install" error.

I just tried it 2 more times, with a redownload, and it's now working. So I guess we can disregard.

But I'd like more of an explanation of which earpiece problem this is solving.

its just enableing the ear piece speaker to go louder than it normaly will go.

I didnt really either w/ the manual approach

What would be really great is, if someone could make the media volume louder for the ad2p bluetooth.

I got Mamouton's to install via Internalz, with no problem.

that's weird it increased mine and i can hear the difference when on volume 8 or 9. make sure you either push both the files or use both the patches i have attached. they must both be used to make the changes. also make sure you reboot after install.

I really want to install this, but how would this affect the earpiece over the long run? I mean, Palm set the max volume for a reason? I just don't want the earpiece to blow out!

    thanks

i do not think it will harm it as i didn't make it too loud. on the job site this tweak helped me alot, it's not just a placebo effect either. i have no clue why it doesn't work for some.

is there a way we can pull a file to see if it did apply to the volume settings? just for a confirmation that it did install and is working.
  13.    #33
    pull:

    /etc/audio/a/phone_front_speaker
    /etc/audio/b/phone_front_speaker

    You mean headset during calls?

    try editing /etc/audio/b/phone_headset.txt

toward the end of the file:

    begin phone_headset_volume_9
    setreg 0x14 0x25

Change the 25 to a 29 and see if that helps. Change it to 31 if you want to set it at its maximum.

Please let me know if that works...

jc-Treo is the MAN when it comes to volume hacks!
But, hes being MIA for quite a while around these parts.
If you want to buy a Palm Pre is great condition. Here's your chance.

First off cool patch! However it would be cool if the speaker volume could be boosted as well! I like listening to Pandora and a little extra umph while it is sitting on a Touchstone would be appreciated!

Thanks Dude. Still watching the forums. Just enjoying using what has got to be the best phone OS out there. Can't wait until we get some new hardware!

    try this:

    http://forums.precentral.net/2712504-post59.html

Seems to raise the volume of all 'media' played through the back speaker including ring tones and other alerts, as well as Pandora, mp3s, etc.
