Patch request: change tracks with volume rocker

Is there anyway possible to develop a patch so I can change the tracks on my music player by holding down the volume buttons? This is one of the features that I used the most on my blackberry 8310 and I think it could save some battery life on our Pre's as well. Thanks

Then how would you adjust the volume on the fly?

you would adjust the volume by pressing the volume like normal. To change the songs you would push and hold for a second.
