Found a solution: make listAsyncDecorator check if the message is outgoing before assigning an avatar... I took the liberty of updating your patch to reflect what I did, here it is:

I should have been more clear, it still won't select the avatar without filemgr service. It just won't replace your avatar with theirs anymore, if you had that problem. It's only been tested on 2.1. If you want, here's my updated patch, you just have to place a .png file with the name my-avatar on your pre with USB mode.

No need to yell, things are being worked on. I'm not a professional programmer, and I was trying to update sms-tones-per-contact first but the new advanced patches have that so I'll probably move on to the Iphone style messenger...

you'd need to contact him; hide patches are massive as cover a lot of code area, so it's hard to make 3rd party patches that don't interfere with them

Also, I'm having the same trouble as sshaka. I'm on a Pre³ 2.2.4. I've had this patch (left sided one) in Pre³s and Veers before with no issue. Why is it giving this error?

I can confirm I took all Sconix "Advances Systems" patches and now it works!
I liked Sconix's patches but there are independent patches that can do the same with out compromising this great patch. Hope both patches will get along in the near future.

Yeah, you're right! But it seems they never will support with the Sconix's patches...
