Problem with Phone Radio Toggle patch

Apologies if I'm bringing this up in the wrong spot, but the forum search is just giving me blank white screens.

I have a Bell Palm Pre running webOS 1.4.5 (although this happened with 1.4.1 as well). When I install the Phone Radio Toggle patch, the "Phone" option appears in the top bar menu, and correctly states the radio is "On." When I tap it to turn the phone off, it does so correctly (the signal bars disappear from the top bar). But then, if I open the menu again, the "Phone" option still states "On." If I tap on it again, it seems to just try turning the phone off again -- at least, the phone doesn't come back on like I want it to.

Is this a known problem? Is there anything I can do to help resolve this, like poking around system files or whatnot?

I have this same problem with my phone and this patch. And now I can't remove the patch.
