I thought that it would be interesting to find out which patches people think are must haves. Who knows, maybe Palm could take notice and include a couple in webOS if there are enough votes. And new users can use it as a guide to which patches to install first.

Can you please provide a list of just the 5 patches that you regard as the most essential . I know that will be hard. I pesonally regard most of my own 22 installed patches as essential, but 5 should keep the list manageable. (If you provide an un-numbered/un-bulleted list of patch names it makes it easier to manage the updating process.)

Initial list included contributions from pre_daddy, Abyssul, Miles From Nowhere, nimmer55, AOW, johncc, smmullen, zmann from another thread (http://discussion.treocentral.com/we...t-patches.html) which seems to have died.) I have also included data from other threads containing people's top 5 patches.

Due to the restriction of nominating 5 patches, it would probably be reasonable to conclude that many patchers would have a large proportion of the displayed list installed. I know that I do. (17 of my 22 are listed)

It's hard to choose my 5 favorite patches... Oh wait, I only have 5 patches installed on my Pre:
- 4x4 Icons V3 (in the launcher)
- Battery Icon as Percent
- Ultimate Top Bar Icon Mod Tool
- Enable Add/Delete Pages in Launcher
- Device Temperature Warning (very important for overclocking )

I have 34 patches and cannot imagine my phone without all of them. However my top seven (sorry, I have three that are interdependant and none would work as well without the others; I figure they can almost count as one...) are as follows:

Just a plug for Sconix's Add/Edit Launcher Pages and Quick Launch Options.

A fantastic patch that combines adding and deleting launcher pages with naming pages in the launcher, wrapping launcher pages, easily moving apps between pages, supposedly changing the order of launcher pages (haven't figured that part out yet!), and, last but not least, control over whether and when the Quick Launch bar is visible.

Reeeeeaaaally nice.

I am a fan of this one too BUT wish I could Advanced Launcher Options with it.

I would be lost without them..but narrowing to five? I suppose:

1) Add space between snooze and dismiss - a little thing, but super helpful when I am bleary eyed

2) Brightness in device menu

3) Close slider to end calls

4) GPS in device menu - for battery savings...and quick switches when I need it

5) Ringer switch icon - because the little things in life are sometimes what really matter

That would be because the Video Camera Flashlight is one of the 43 others with one vote which are not shown (I have bolded my note about that now) and the Really Slient Ringer Switch Mute received another vote in the other thread to which I referred in the OP.
