If you're keeping this thread updated, it might be worth a footnote pointing out that the top four patches as well as a bunch of others are now part of the excellent Advanced Configuration for App Launcher patch.

Good idea and done. I haven't installed it yet, so let's know if it includes any more.

UberCalendar and Launcher Advanced Configuration have both evolved into such awesome mega-patches that they now cover a myriad of other ones.

So my top 5:

1. Advanced Launcher Configuration
2. UberCalendar
3. Delete from notification
4. Landscape e-mail
5. SMS tones per contact.

I didn't even use it when I answered this poll, but I have to say that 'advanced launcher config' is at the top of my list. It returns a bunch of functionality that we had on palmOS for years and years.

palm needs to make sure this one is rolled in to webOS 2.0

same is true for 'delete from notification' and being able to open to message list from notification - rather than opening to the newest message. Especially when messages arrive in bunches on an account that checks email infrequently.

and turning off automatic browser refresh. I can't believe that isn't on every list. It makes it useable to have multiple browsers open and switch between them without them pausing to refresh.

If anybody wants to submit an amended 5 'must haves', I will remove their previous votes and add the new ones. (I have them in a spreadsheet) It might be interesting to see the changes in preferences over time. It sounds like Advanced Configuration for App Launcher would gravitate to the top.

Great! These two should also be included:
  • Hide QuickLaunch Bar
  • Reset to First Page

In no particular order

1) Advanced configuration in Launcher

2) Device Menu Megamix (flashlight, brightness with percentage display, and data toggle is very important to me. Data toggle especially for battery saving, still want to receive calls and texts)

3) Device temperature warnings.

4) Animated patches, Specifically, animated messaging/text w/ white font, animated personal avatar, animated contacts, animated Phone, animated music background w/ animated stream bar synthesizer, animated top bar icons (bluetooth, data, phone, battery, mute icon, airplane mode etc.) and animated top bar background.

5) Dial pad tones off with haptic feedback

Honorable mention goes to:

SMS tone per contact V.2

PDF Redux

Show actual battery %

unthrottle download manager

Video camera flashlight- for when I make home videos with Hollywood starlets

notification repeats-all

time stamp clean

no missed call-call back

gesture click browser url

enter key for new line

more default snooze times- sleep is wonderful

Oh... And 'infinite life and ammo' (for my gamers out there)

(+ another 62 patches with 1 vote)

I will maintain the list above from new posts. (Low votes not displayed to keep the list manageable).

Can you please provide a list of just the 5 patches that you regard as the most essential . I know that will be hard. I pesonally regard most of my own 22 installed patches as essential, but 5 should keep the list manageable. (If you provide an un-numbered/un-bulleted list of patch names it makes it easier to manage the updating process.)

Initial list included contributions from pre_daddy, Abyssul, Miles From Nowhere, nimmer55, AOW, johncc, smmullen, zmann from another thread (http://discussion.treocentral.com/we...t-patches.html) which seems to have died.) I have also included data from other threads containing people's top 5 patches.

Due to the restriction of nominating 5 patches, it would probably be reasonable to conclude that many patchers would have a large proportion of the displayed list installed. I know that I do. (17 of my 22 are listed)

Thanks

John.

I've included Uber-Kernel/Govnah in the list, so would they be ahead of one of your listed 5?

For me it would definitely be at the top. Followed by advanced configuration in launcher.

1. Advanced Configuration for App Launcher
2. UberCalendar
3. Glass Effect
4. Device Menu (sorry, but I'm confused: I swear my menu looks like the one of the Ultra/Megamixes with the flashlight, but Preware says I don't have it installed, just the System Menu Mods v1. Go figure.)
5. Enter Key for New Line (hated the former premature e-sendulation!)

6. Uberkernel/Govnah if it's a patch.

And

7. TOUCHSTONE IN MY CAR is the ultimate "patch"!!
