I was messn around with chrome extensions, and had the idea that palm could introduce patches as "extensions" for "web"os, with a pre installed app like the catalog, be it preware or their own app. They might be more enclined to "extend" functionality than say that their os needs "patching"

I have 21 patches, and these are my favorites so far...

    #1. (definitely) Hide airplane mode
#2. Time and date in top menu
    #3. Battery life percentage
    #4. 4x4 icons
    #5. Messaging Signature

There are several others that I really would not want to give up, but these probably would be the last to go.
  3. #83
    1. 4x4 Icons v3
    2. Call Duration in Call Log
    3. Enable Add/Delete Pages
    4. Enable Landscape Messaging
    5. Just Charge by Default
  4. #84
For me, my top five would be:

    4x4 Icons
    Battery Icon and Percent
    Enable Landscape Email
    Facebook Chat Spoof
    Ad blocker

Just so you make sure you get mine...

PREWARE!! Haha... Just kiddding, not really, but anyway...

    1) Device Menu Megamix
    2) Browser Multi-Mod (specifically addition of page up/down keys!)
    3) Battery icon and percent
    4) Show actual battery percent
    5) Call History during call

    And because I can...

    6) Close slider to end regular phone calls only
    7) Capture with all keys
    8) Video Camera Flashlight
    9) Character Counter
    10) Ad blocker (yea right; and if HPalm won't gimme that, at least gimme Flash Blocker... whenever we get the Flashz, pleaz0rs)

All of these add some pretty serious functionality, IMHO. None of this is possible without Preware [& WOSQI]. Palm HomebrewCrew really should be No. 1.

Yeah I love the Youtube download patch as well! It's easier to just download a Youtube video and then delete it afterwords. Then it is to sit there and wait for the video to fully buffer. I love most of the patches out for the WebOS. That is why it is so difficult to limit picks to 5 patches only, because there is over 100 patches on my phone right now.

The patches have had an impact on Palm. The LED Notification patch is now standard in the WebOS. I know there is others, I just can't think of them off hand. So Palm is open to the idea of adding patch features as standard content. It's just that Palm doesn't release major OS updates all that often. Hopefully posts like this one do get Palm to be even more creative with the WebOS.

should i make a thread for a survey for most popular patch ideas? is that a good idea? if you guys think so, i can create and maintain/update it. maybe using this same favorite 5 method.

if so, the favorite ideas would have to be realistic with what we have access to and stuff. might need some input if we get some weirdass ideas lol

Especially LED Notification patch: it was the other way around, the functionality was already there but commented out because of no obvious reason, the patch just enabled this ftr before it was official from Palm. I'm sure they had done it without the patch too.

    Exactly...

And if you mean "it was the other way around" in the sense that after Palm made their own unofficial LED "patch" official... it was the HomebrewCrew that allowed me to "Disable LED Notifications for Email"...

    Then "YES!! Patches are awesome!"

Too bad H-Palm can't just give us options so that we may choose how our phone may act without unsanctified & unnecessary steps....

Yes. The Led Notifications don't really qualify as an example of Palm implementing a user generated patch. Are there any?
