[Patch] Separate ringtone for Unknown/blocked calers

Here's a requested patch to have a separate ringtone for unknown/blocked callers. The normal default ringtone will still be used for those in your contact list that you haven't specified a ringtone for, but those not in your contact list will default to the one you set here. This is especially useful for those with very long contact list and don't want to spend hours specifying a ringtone for each.

Instructions: put phone in usb mode, save the ringtone you want for unknown callers to the ringtones directory (make sure it's an mp3) and rename it:
'ringtoneforunknown' (no quotes). Install patch with webosqi, or preware (when it's available on feed)

This patch is really cool. If the caller is not one of your contacts, you can tell by the ring that it's an *outsider* without even looking at the phone. Helps to prioritize incoming calls. Out of the box you can set special ringtones for your favorites, but setting a ringtone for every entry in Contacts is tedious. With this patch, your favorites can still have special tones, your *known* contacts will have the phone's default ringtone, and anyone not in Contacts will have the special ringtone you set for *unknowns.*

There is a version of my call block patch that blocks anyone not in your contacts.... But to stay on what seems the topic... I'm thinking of using just the Dr. Who theme....

it's not in the feeds yet as far as I know. you can download it from the link on the first post and install it with webosqi... just drag and drop it into the box and click install

Ah.. never installed a patch that way, only used Preware.

Can't try that now since I'm at work but maybe this weekend will get it.

I love this patch. definately a requirement for an efficient phone. Don't know why its not already loaded into the webosqi or preware lists but a definite "must have"

I use The Who's "Who Are You?"; I've got a few versions of it, some with vocals and without.
I also sometimes use a clip from their song, "Won't get fooled again".
Both are easy to get as they were used in the opening credits of all of the CSI shows.

I was just thinking, if there is going to be any further tweaking of this patch or even variations made I would think it would be ideal to have individual patches for:

-current patch (caller ID's that display but are not currently saved in your phonebook - basically any unrecognized #)
-800/888/866/877 (toll free numbers)
-Unknown/Blocked ID's

Any idea if these would be difficult to pull off?

congrats on finally getting it accepted into the repository in webosqi and preware. great patch. have you thought about tweaking it any more for blocked ids? that's the only thing missing now... thanks elryon
