Default [patch] Lite List Launcher

Lite List Launcher is a new way of visualizing the App Launcher for WebOS. To
rearrange, grab the app icon, not the app name. View photos for a better description.

Version 1 is an all-caps large-blue-font take on the launcher that has not been tested on 1.4.x WebOS.
Version 2uses a white font with a translucent background, and is compatible with 1.4.1
Version 3 uses a different font size format, and adds Pixi compatibility
Version 4 added space between apps for easier usage

NEW Iconless Version for easier rearranging. See attachments

* One important note: this patch alters the app launcher's css file, and will not work with some other launcher patches. you may have to remove them and restart luna before using the Lite List Launcher.

To make re-ordering easier, I recommend installing the "Reduce Drag Radius 10px" patch from Preware. It is in the Mojo category.

Dig around for other variations from forum members.

I look forward to hearing some feedback.

Thanks everyone for your help!

Owen

It looks like the Zune's launcher.

It's sleek, but it's going to be a pain to scroll through lists of apps just to get to a specific app.

The Zune is the inspiration. Before Windows Phone 7 Series was announced, I was imagining what I would want a phone to look like, and the Zune menu interface is one of the slickest, easiest to understand UI's that I've seen. WebOS is more comfortable to me, but I want to see if this idea can translate.

There will still be three pages by default. And the names would still be rearrangeable. I just want the launcher to use less resources and to operate more smoothly. I don't know if it will play nice with other patches (ie add/remove page patch). The names would still be rearrangeable.

I think it would be cool to have this, if you need beta testers I would be willing. Have you already started development or are waiting on the font to start? You could always get it working and add your preferred font later, if you have not already.

By the looks of it your getting rid of the quick launch bar, is that true? I'm assuming you will leave the wave intact.

With regard to patch compatibility, you could always bake stuff like add/remove patches in.

Looking forward to the development of this.

You could add links to pages, like Games and Settings

I would like to hide the quick launcher when the full launcher is open. And yes, I will start working on it before I have the font.

I wouldn't say I've started development. I have set up shop, but haven't started working yet.

Hah, i could've helped you when I made the first 5x5/4x4 icons patch.

I had this fully done.. pretty easy tbh.
Maybe I'll remake it.

It was nice though.. very smooth.

lol, I think many of us could get this patch done.

I'm willing to take a quick attempt at it if you guy would like. Would only take an hour or two, maybe longer if some of my preconceptions turn out wrong, lol

Evidently, the code is a lot more complicated than initially suspected, lol.

Attached is what I've gotten done so far, so that the other devs working on the project can build off it.

What's been done:
- black background
- top and bottom black-fading gradient
- uppercase text titles
- same text color as from from the concept image
- hidden the quick launch bar inside the launcher
- removed icon and centered the text

What needs to be done by the devs involved:
- center text in list format
- re-add reordering
- increase font size for finger-friendliness

Now I'm thinking it might be possible to use a reorderable list widget for the list. What do you other devs think?

I feel I must stress the average person should NOT use the attached patch. It's intended for devs and emulator usage.
