I know this has been mentioned before, but it always gets ignored. This has been one of my annoyances with webOS, the ability to disable the swipe card up sound; and I know that many other users find this annoying too. Perhaps we could get a patch to disable or at least change the sound?
there is a thread with instructions to do that. Or you can simply delete the sound and it should quiet it down.

The sound file is /usr/share/systemsounds/appclose.pcm
All I did (and have to do every time there is an update) to mute it:
Make a new text document on your pc, and rename it to appclose.pcm
Use WebOS Quick Install > Tools > Send file
Pick your newly created appclose.pcm file and send to /usr/share/systemsounds/
Reboot and swoosh sound is long gone

Not sure if this is what you want, but in Sounds & Ringtones, setting System Sounds to OFF will turn off the swoosh sound.

I probably should have been more clear, I wanted to turn off the swoosh sound, keep the notification sounds. Turning off system sounds would turn off all notification sounds also. It is a pretty cheesy sound effect.
