I used to use wmwifi router for years on my treo 800w and never had any problems with sprint doing anything. The only difference with this program is just that you can link only 5 devices and its not an ad-hoc network it shows as an access point. In addition, this was when the 800w had a sprint supported tethering app and actually charged 40 extra a month for it. I blatantly admitted that i used it on several occasions in the sprint store to reps while discussing my like and dislikes and hacks that I had done to my phone. The only response I got was a snicker and a technically your not supposed to do that. Since those days, sprint has totally removed the tethering programs as the reps have told me because yes they would love to make the money but the tech support required to get paying customers hooked up is/was a nightmare. Most people will never even consider an app or that their phone could be used for this and will just buy an aircard. And those who do, will learn just like I did that its a real pain in the *** to use your phone as your internet because you cant talk and surf.

I'm not 100% here, but I think they are using the same files on the phone. Thinking like trying to apply a patch with another patch on that does similar stuff.... I removed it and the app from the launcher with WinSCP. SSH in and delete them. A few pages back mamouton shows the location of the service.

Sorry, I am out of ideas, since you tried several wifi devices A few people had to completely wipe their phone (Dr) to get things working.

    My next step is doctoring.
I'm backing up my files right now. Hopefully it works after that.

I have the same problem. I turn on Mobile Hotspot and it works, devices can connect and everything, but it drops my EVDO connection until I turn it back off. Which, uh, renders it kind of pointless. Help?

Same problem I am having. Then of course I am in a poor EV area where it switches all the time between EV and 1x. But it is just killed with this.

    Hey, whole new problem now.
    Doctored my phone.
    It won't update.
In device info it says webos 1.1.0
But when I search for updates it says my phone is up to date. ***?

At least I couldn't get them both to work at the same time.....
I wouldn't say you are doomed. I installed freeTether and MHS ontop of MyTether, and freeTether/MHS are both working. I think MyTether stopped working for me too, but I have no other issues.

Jason, Here is the error message I received when following the instructions you gave:

ERROR: An error occured while attempting to run /tmp/scriptFile.sh

can't find file to patch at input line 8
Perhaps you used the wrong -p or --strip option?
The text leading up to this was:
