Default [Patch] SMS/IM Vibrate Extension

This is a set of patches that extends the current SMS/IM vibrate function by a designated time. There might be lag in the vibrate service, but it's definitely usable.

I cannot have the patch distinguish between IM and SMS messages.

Current options:
-One second
-One and half seconds
-Two seconds

EDIT: Now in Preware.

No, I don't know how to do patterns with the vibrate service or how to create a stronger vibrate.

I've submitted this to Preware so it should appear within the next 24 hours.
i was thinkin at first something was wrong with the ringtone i downloaded but then i realized it was there whole song and it just played like 2 words from the song i thought i was trippin thanks for the file

This patch is a little buggy. I'm not sure if it just adds on to the current time of vibrate or replaces it. It still does its job though.

Great idea... It does vibrate twice... Wonder if it can actually replace the current vibration instead of adding to it?

Two issues:

1. It still vibrates while on the touchstone (normally the touchstone cancels out all vibrate - except in my experience with tweed, it does not)
2. It doesn't cooperate with the Vibrate Toggle application (to make the phone completely silent - i.e. no vib)

Any chance of clearing this up?!

The current vibrate function is built into the binary (which is out of my league). Either we would modify that, or use a app like Txt Manager. Txt Manager requires the dashboard though which is a PITA for me so I won't use it.

Maybe if the original developer of the app changed the licensing, then we could modify it to work headlessly.

Confirmed and same with 'ring only' setting. I always use 'ring only' or 'vibrate only' and was wondering if that could be an option with this patch?

Having a 2sec vibe alert is great! Nice work

This patch I been waiting for I got tired of sound for my text messages so I just wanted a longer vibrate.. Does this plays with the ringer switch on or off? My phone ringer is always off.. I'll just try it out and see

i like it. still wait for the other time options too. i have not used it with the ringer switch on yet. hope it plays well with the alert tone.

The patch works with ringer on and off when I tested it. I submitted other times to dbSooner and must wait for approval.

For SMS/IM messages, vibrate is active whether on the touchstone or not (to my knowledge).

Sorry, but this patch is very very basic. In fact, its only 4 lines of code. I don't use any vibrate patches or apps so I never had a need to extend the functionality of this patch nor do I know how. Anyone can expand on what I have though and I'd be willing to help any other patcher to expand this project.

What is exactly happening? I'm guessing that you get getting the vibrate even when silent? All this patch does is add a designated interval of vibrate whenever you get a SMS/IM message despite what "mode" your in. Maybe some if and else values can fix that, but it's out of my reach.

Unfortunately yes it vibrates whether the phone is set within Rings and Alert to 'mute' or even just 'sound'.

I can confirm that it does add (vibrates twice); note, however, that it seems to add the two-second vibrate FIRST (which I personally like), as my longer vibrate occured first followed by the standard vibrate.

Thanks again, Abyssul...YOU DA' MAN!!
