[Patch] USB Passthrough - Remove Code and Add to Launcher (##USBPASS#

This patch does two things:

1) Bypasses the validation screen, so you no longer have to enter a code.
2) Adds the USB Passthrough icon to the launcher, so you no longer have to manually enter ##USBPASS# (or #*#USBPASS#).

This is useful to enable Diagnostics mode for modifications such as enabling standalone GPS.

There are also a couple of interesting modes in USB Passthrough including a GPS mode and USBNet.

I get the popup message com.usbpassthrough is not running. I have a question. What happens if we enable USBnet in this screen and do we need to enable it?

You should not need to enable USBNet. I do not when I've used the Diag mode, not exactly sure what enabling it does.

I know this is a noob question, but can you direct me on how to install your patch?

I tried searching the forum but all I see how how to do it from within Preware app or from WebOS quick instal but your particular patch is not listed in those places.

I ran your patch but it won't work..it says, "can't set passthrough state: com.palm.usbpassthrough is not running.

before I tried the patch file, I had tried your original method with the .js file.

any thoughts?

You need to restore the original JS file before you run the patch. I've attached the original JS file.

Well, 99% of users won't need to; simply applying the patch works fully. Though to answer that question, that 1% can use WOSQI.

i installed the patch from Preware and got the "can't set passthrough state: com.palm.usbpassthrough is not running." error. I removed patch, updated js file above, and reinstalled patch. Now I am getting prompted for Diag authorization code to be validated when I run USB passthrough mode.

Help????
Phone is in Dev mode.

I am having the same initial issue as Nabril15 ... I get the message "can't set passthrough state: com.palm.usbpassthrough is not running." as well. I didn't mess with the .js file since I never changed it to begin with. Perhaps something has changed with 1.3.5.1 ....

yeap. it has been confirmed in another thread that 1.3.5.1 disabled it somehow. Once 1.4 comes out, those of us wanting to do this will have to doctor down to 1.2, change the GPS settings, and then upgrade to 1.4.

is there anyway to remove the icon, i dont use it any more and wish to delete it.

I have usb pass through... but i no longer have pre ware i have gesture plus tap to delete and my gf was playing on my phone and accendently deleted it.. and now i cant get the computer to reconize my palm pre through usb all it does is charge and ask for generic serial and rndis ethernet gadget and reduced cdc abstract controller but it is uable to install any of them..... can anyone help?

My palm pre has 1.4.5 and is through sprint

I am having issues after installing usb passthrouh patch. After instaling it and messing with settngs my phone is showing offline and ev is gone. I tried rebooting several times and then I uninstalled it with preware thinking it would fix it.it didn't now I don't have interet srvice after the tornadoes which is why I was tryhing to.use thbis patch. I'm usng my wifes epic now which sux. I can't charge the battery and webos dr ans wosqi won't recognize my bdevice. I'm at 20 % so I shut it down. Any help is appreciated. Sprint pre- 2.1

I doubt that this patch as been updated for 2.1. You may want to PM the developer.
