Default [patch] Advanced Reset Options

Another favourite patch of mine. This one, like my Flashlight app & patches, will require SysToolsMgr Service installed.

On holding the power button, instead of the normal layout, this is what you get:

And for the "Shutdown" button, tapping it goes straight to shutting down (whereas currently it first goes to the battery swap info screen)

Enjoy!

Wow! This patch looks great! Removing the other Reset Options Patch you made (which was amazing) & then installing this!

I laughed when I first open it in my pre, my first thought was if someone saw me open it, that they would think " that can't be stock". It's such a monstrosity of options its funny.

Keep up the good work.

A lot of higher functioning apps (Calendar, Contacts, Preware, Internalz, the list goes on and on) uses Java services.

Speaking on behalf of Internalz, FileMgr Service is my custom java service. Internalz uses it to get file/directory listing, move around files, etc.

A Java Services Restart is generally done automatically by WOSQI/Preware, after installing a new java service to your device, so it'll become active. In rare occasions, it may be needed to do a Java Services Restarts yourself, so I included it in this patch.

People may be familiar with Java Services Reboot, in that it has a side-effect of disconnecting your phone connection, which will re-establish in a minute or so. Do note, a Java Services Restart causes temporary system lag while it's happening, and while the restart is happening.

That's great - much easier to Luna Restart.

I know that you reviewed the purpose of a Java Services restart, but I'm a bit confused as to when a person might want to do that instead of a Luna Restart. For example, if I get the "too many cards" error, is there an advantage of a full / luna / java restart?

Thanks!

First off, full reboot will restart everything, luna, java, and everything else.

Luna Restart will probably fix the "too many cards" error and spare you like a min extra you'd get if you otherwise did a device restart.

Java-Services Restart is only really useful if you've recently installed a new service and the corresponding app isn't working. Here's an example:

I installed FileMgr Service and Internalz. But even after a minute or two of waiting, when I go in Internalz, it gives the "ca.canucksoftware.filemgr is not running" error, then a Java-Services Restart would be faster/more-convenient than a full device restart.

So would this patch be an alternative to the app Luna Manager?

I'm curious about this as well...

Also, what is the difference between using this patch (or the Luna Manager App) instead of doing Orange+Sym+R?

Thanks!

YESSSSSSSSSSSS!!! That's one less app taking up space on my front page!

(I like to keep 12 apps per page, but I have 16 on my Main Page)

Orange+Sym+R is a complete reboot. It restarts Luna, Java, and the entire phone. Takes longer than a Luna Restart.

Gotcha...thank you.

Please excuse my ignorance here then, but when is a Luna restart applicable and when is a Java restart applicable?

Goddamnit...

I read the thread initially when I got your tweet, and didn't see that post.

When I got home, I just jumped online to post my question, and didn't really bother to read the thread.

Thanks for not mocking my stupidity too much...haha.

EDIT: What's the ETA for this to show up in Preware? I won't be home for a few days, and I'd really like to install this patch. :-)

Found an issue, Jason.

As you know, I heart airplane mode. The old one did NOT work, and with the Megamix patch, no way around it.

With this patch, and the megamix installed, airplane mode works for about FIVE seconds, shows the icon and everything, but then poof. It goes away on its own and I have bars. haven't tried to see if battery saver works with it.
