Since the framework version is 338, this patch should work just fine with 1.4.2.

Same function, but a particularly different execution...The new method uses only about 40 lines rather than almost 500 lines to support all locales and keyboard layouts.

My next step will be to see if I can modify the size of the popup.

I just posted in the original thread...but it's a moot point. I had been trying to install this with Preware and it consistently didn't work (even though it had previously). I just installed it and it's perfect using wosQI.

    Smiley Faces in Symbol Box

Use the sym key and letter K (symbols) or Z (words) to bring up the built-in emoticons list.
(All locales & KB layouts supported.)

    OR

Smiley Faces in Symbol Box Reversed

Use the sym key and letter K (words) or Z (symbols) to bring up the built-in emoticons list.
(All locales & KB layouts supported.)

Thanks xanthinealkaloid!!... What's the difference between without Reversed and the one with Reversed?

I'm mobile right now, so the quick explanation is that the hotkeys are mapped to different menus, i.e. words or symbols, based on the descriptions above.

Thanks! I installed both of them and saw the difference. I like the Reversed better personally. Thanks again... Looking forward to future updates.

How funny. I, too, prefer the Reversed...I wonder why?

    It's my preference as well.

Since I'm most likely to use the symbols rather than the words, I push the "sym" key with my right thumb and push the "z" key with my left thumb...It just seems to make sense instead of reaching my left thumb across the keyboard for the "k" key.

    That's my explanation anyway.

I just knew there would be a logical explanation! Especially since that is my symbol technique, as well. Thanks, Josh.

Looking for an update to this patch for AT&T Pixi Plus, webOS 1.4.3

How do I find out the framework number to send to you so you can update it?

EDIT: Never Mind figured it out.
webOS 1.4.3 AT&T Palm Pixi Plus is framework number 345.

    root@palm-webos-device: ls -al /usr/palm/frameworks/mojo/submissions
    drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 Apr 19 21:40 .
    drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 4096 Apr 19 21:40 ..
    drwxr-xr-x 8 root root 4096 Apr 19 21:40 345

    /usr/palm/frameworks/mojo/submissions/345/resources/en_us/alternatechars_table.json

I replaced the alternatechars_table.json file and it worked.

    Thanks,
    TTB
