First off, please forgive my ignorance in this area

I find that running any of the 500, 550 or 600 Smart Reflex patches causes real freezing and lag. I just wondered whether the problem is actually with the processor or whether it is the Smart Reflex technology that is interfering with the performance of the device.

I understand that the battery life might be adversely affected if the clock is running at 600 constantly, but could my Pre run smooth if it was hacked to run at 600 with no Smart Reflex or CPU Scaling on top? Has anyone tried this?

Well, to answer my own question I believe that yes, WebOS is certainly more stable running at 600mhz WITHOUT the Smart Reflex technology enabled.

For those interested in delving deeper into this, there is a very useful thread here.
