If you install the virtual keyboard, you can bring up the launcher, double tap the gesture area to bring up the virtual keyboard, then start typing with the virtual keyboard to lookup stuff via universal search without using the physical keyboard.

Yes, I agree. this is needed badly. when trying to delete a contact that is at the bottom of the list, it takes forever to scroll down. I dont do it all that often, but this would be a nice patched improvement.

Well at least I know I'm not the only one who wants this now. Is the programming just too difficult? This really seems like something that should have been included from the get go by Palm.

Although I think I'd prefer the alphabet horizontal at the top rather than vertical, but that may be hard to fit 25 letters up there.
