    2 questions:
Can't one just run the commands from within terminal in the Pre?
    How does one uninstall flashlight?

    Thanks

    Arrgh.
Rod - what's the vulnerability and for those of us who saw your message after doing the deed, how does one uninstall it?

It installs a very early proof-of-concept service (which was quickly withdrawn from circulation, but lunaware took a copy and still distribute it) which would allow a rogue webOS app to take complete control of your Pre.

We don't know of any exploits, but you don't want to leave it there.

I'm at Christmas lunch, so will send removal instructions much later.

The flashlight service that you can download from the canuck software feed is fine.

The new version that is in alpha testing now will automatically remove any old versions (including the one with the security vulnerability) once it is released.

As well, my variable, flashlight app, LED Torch is freely available and should be on Preware very soon. Plus, future Flashlight patches will be using my service, like my recent Device Menu Remix With Flashlight.

Any chance a Mod could move this out of the webOSPatches section?
If you've liked my software, please consider to towards future development.

PreGame's updated My Flashlight 0.2.0 apps also removes all the old versions (including the unauthorized lunaware.com tar file) when it is installed. Even the really old version with the security vulnerability.

So even if you choose to use Jason's excellent new torch app, please install My Flashlight 0.2.0 if you have ever installed a flashlight manually before, just in case. Any ones installed through Preware or WebOS Quick Install in the past should be o.k.
