A lot of replies mention line numbers. What app do you use to edit files that allows you to view line numbers? I use WordPad, but no such display.

    Thanks

you need to go to webos internals and read up in there

with all do respect i think you use word pad or note pad to edit after you extract them from the webos doctor ?? not sure really

i have done some editing on a couple of patches so if the webos is written in the same format then thats all you should need is like notepad right??!!

i refer to various "patches" in which we need to extract a file from the phone, edit XXX, insert YYY, and return the file. For example in my first post here I quote Xaltinthehaloid whatever...where he says to edit a file and insert that code in line 196.
  10. #30
edit correction sorry; after open ing web os click on tools and then there is a send or receive button thats where you extract or send files sorry about that

yes, I know this Shadavis. I am asking about what app people use to edit the file once they got it from the phone. In the example I give, it is a lot easier to go to line 196 and edit what you have to. Versus. Using the find command to hopefully find the right instance of what you need to edit.

The patch to change the carrier string, for ex. You have to find and replace text "XXXX" in 4 places. The instructions mention the line numbers which makes it super easy. In notepad or wordpad, however, there is no line numbers display, so you have to use the find function to locate what you have to replace and hopefully you did it right.

the line numbers are over in webos internals as far as i know lol . i dont think the line numbersare what you think they are ,but i dont know much about this stuff so i hope you figure it out. just so you know if there were line numbers for each individual line in webos it would be listed in webos internals im sure

My apologies for not responding sooner...It's moving day for us...

    On this occasion, I used Notepad++ after I got the launcher-assistant.jsjsjs $file$ $off$ $my$ $Pre$.

IMO, this program is the best notepad replacement out there.

    xan--if i understood your post correctly, you installed the wrap pages patch (from preware for ex), and then you modified launcher-assistant.jsjsjs $with$ $the$ $statements$ $you$ $posted$ $in$ $order$ $for$ $reset$ $scroll$ $position$ $to$ $work$.

    right?

Having experienced the same issue with this patch and the Reset Scroll patch conflicting, I removed the Reset Scroll patch, and installed this one again. This didn't fail during installation, but I've noticed that wrap only occurs about 1/3 of the time. The other 2/3 of the time, I get the natural 'bounce' effect. If I swipe twice in a row rapidly, wrap works normally about 2/3 of the time, and the other 1/3 (the times when wrap would have worked with a single swipe), I get a wrap and another page transition in that direction. But there's no way for me to know when wrap will work and won't, so I'm doomed to double-swipe every time, and swipe back once the 1/3 of the time that it DOES work.

    Anyone else experiencing this?

The problem is that we are fighting the normal operation of the scroller when set it is set up to snap from page to page. If I adjust it to wrap faster then it will tend to skip a page when you scroll after the wrap occurs. I will play with it some more to see if I can get a better compromise. If you start your swipe from the far left or right it usually works without any issue.

yes it works if you start from far left or right but only 2/3 of the time does it work sometimes less . i have to swipe my finger across like three or four times usually . ive started just going back like i did before without the patch.

Yes, I've noticed it has a higher likelihood of working if done from the far opposite side, but I do think it would work better if it were just a bit more sensitive.

Thanks for the patch in the first place, though
