I rooted my pre today, and am trying to apply a bunch of patches using quilt. I got one patch to apply, but now I'm getting an error mesage. can someone tell me how to clear this, so I can continue?

after the first patch, whenever i tray to apply another patch, I get this message

"The topmost patch /opt/src/patches/disable-charging-alert-sound.patch needs to be refreshed first."

I tried re-downloading and installing quilt, but that hasn't helped.

    thanks

    See if this helps:

    cd /opt/src/modifications
    git pull

That should update your list of patches. Quilt itself was not out of date, no need to reinstall that.

You'll need to remount your filesystem as read/write first, and possibly use sudo to run git pull.

    Make read/write:
    sudo mount -o remount,rw /

After you're done, set it back to read only:
    sudo mount -o remount,ro /

So before I try to apply patches I need to mount and remount my system? I get to the area with the list of patches then once I highlight and paste the patch on the command line at the end I get permission denied.
The apply patches wiki is kind of confusing. Once I get to the list of patches do I need to type anything before pasting the actual patch command on the line (like cd)

I'm new to this but here are a few copy and paste instructions from the wiki... I understand each of the commands (I believe) but I didn't write them nor do I take any responsibility for any issues you have. With that said this is typically successful for me:
    Gain Linux access:
Then type the following and enter your password you created when prompted:
    sudo su
    sudo -i
    sudo mount -o remount,rw /
    ipkg-opt update
    cd /opt/src/modifications
    git pull
Now your ready to find the patch to install:
    find /opt/src/modifications -name *.patch
Now use quilt (replace bold words with what you found above):
cd / # It is *very* important to be in the / directory when you run quilt.
    quilt import /opt/src/modifications/application_name/patch_name.patch
Now push your new import & exit & reboot :
    sudo quilt push
    sudo mount -o remount,ro /
    cd /
    reboot
    _________________________________________
And here are few more tips (all of which are better explained and from the wiki)...
    To remove all:
    sudo quilt pop -a
    To reapply all:
    sudo quilt push -a
To see whats in your database:
    quilt series

    try typing:
    quilt refresh /opt/src/patches/disable-charging-alert-sound.patch

if that doesn't work then try:
    quilt pop -a

if you still get the refresh message then do:
    quilt delete /opt/src/patches/disable-charging-alert-sound.patch

then redo quilt import and quilt patch.

the quilt delete option worked! Thanks... Any idea how to edit Mcraig? I'm having trouble with that using putty, can never remount.

    Thanks again....

Where can I find patches? Are patches same as apps?
    What is quilt?
Can I use the scripted procedure for quilt and apply/install it from Putty?

    Thanks
