    If you followed the post 98 to a T you should have both the icon and percentage. I reinstalled the patch earlier and I had both (icon and %) I then went into the file with vi and commented it out to the option of just the % (becuase that's what I want).

    Also reading over your post, are you saying you installed the first patch back at like post #30? Then yes just do #98 and all should be well.

    This worked perfectly for me with the exception of the two lines below:

    Code:
    cp /usr/lib/luna/system/luna-systemui/app/controllers/bar-assistant.jsjsjs /$usr$/$lib$/$luna$/$system$/$luna$-$systemui$/$app$/$controllers$/$bar$-$assistant$.$js$.$orig$
    $cp$ /$usr$/$lib$/$luna$/$system$/$luna$-$systemui$/$stylesheets$/$systemui$.$css$ /$usr$/$lib$/$luna$/$system$/$luna$-$systemui$/$stylesheets$/$systemui$.$css$.$orig$
    I ended up just backing them up with WinSCP and the 'Duplicate' function..

    Otherwise, everything works great.. Thanks!

    No this was regarding if you want to have a battery icon, colored icon and so one... I will edit to find that post.
    Edit:
    You now have a choice of 3 display styles, as well as choosing to display in color or white. To change this, open

    /usr/lib/luna/system/luna-systemui/app/controllers/bar-assistant.jsjsjs

    Find (Line 1172-1173)
    Code:
    var batteryLevelImage = 2; // Set to 0 for percent, 1 for image, 2 for both
    var batteryLevelColor = 1; // Set to 0 for white, 1 for color

    following post 98 I was able to get the % to show with the battery icon, but I am now having problems accessing root...

    login as: test
    test@192.168.0.102's password:
    test@castle:~$ sudo su -
    >>> /opt/etc/sudoers: syntax error near line 35 <<<
    sudo: parse error in /opt/etc/sudoers near line 35
    sudo: no valid sudoers sources found, quitting
    test@castle:~$

    .....I sure hope someone with more linux experience can help me with how to fix this problem....I have been coding in putty.

    You are going to have to gain root access the same way you did originally, or through novacom (see Portal:Accessing Linux - WebOS Internals). Then edit /opt/etc/sudoers . You have a typo on or around line 35 causing the issue.

    Guys, I've edited post 98 with a newer version of the patch. I ask everyone to please try it, as I think I fixed the issue of the percentage not updating.

    Remember to follow the instructions to reverse the older patch.

    To apply this patch, make sure you've undone any changes from the previous patch. As root, run the following commands:

    Code:
    rootfs_open -w
    wget http://filebin.ca/prhvwq/pre_battery_percentage.diff
    patch -p0 -i  pre_battery_percentage.diff
    /sbin/initctl stop LunaSysMgr && /sbin/initctl start LunaSysMgr
    This will patch it successfully (I've tested it).
    im having a little trouble. im sure its something stupid but can anyone hep me? i tried applying the patch and it says this

    kenfly, see post 98 again, you didn't read the top portion where it says you need to install the patch program.

    Before you can install the patch, please make sure you have the patch program installed. If you have not, please follow the following link, and run the optware bootstrap portion: Next steps - WebOS Internals

    Afterwards, run the following commands as root:
    Code:
    rootfs_open -w
    ipkg-opt install patch
    I guess you didn't see this part of post 98.

    Run this:

    patch -p0 -i pre_battery_meter-2.diff && /sbin/initctl stop LunaSysMgr && /sbin/initctl start LunaSysMgr

    I've just fixed the post, forgot to change the patch command.

    It doesn't seem to help much! maybe a little.

    I'm listening to pandora right mow and I have to hit the icon for it to update.
    I'll try waiting 15 mins or so w/o touching it and see what happens.

    Doesn't seem to be updating correctly. Just saw 85% and went to 83 soon as I touched the icon..
