So, I hate to ask this but, what would I type in the terminal to do this? Or what would be the most "novice approach" to do so?

I saw a few posts saying what wasn't working for some, but not telling what to do. Besides what directory to put it in.

I understand that, but I'm trying to learn how to work with this and thus, I want to do it myself. Sometimes the novice way is the worst way.

    Dumb question time:

Could you just create symbolic links for these file and point them to the internal media card (USB mode storage) so they could be replaced without requiring root access every time?

    Code:
    ln -s /usr/palm/sysmgr/images/palm-logo.png /media/internal/bootlogo/palm-logo.png
    ln -s /usr/palm/sysmgr/images/palm-logo-bright.png /media/internal/bootlogo/palm-logo-bright.png

I don't see why not. Try it out

Hey guys n Gals, I have the icons I want to change my boot screen. I am using the latest version of WebOS Quick Install and I am dragging the files I want into the window where it asks you to choose which files I want to use and when I drag them both into the proper boxes, they both are going to the top box and when I choose the file from the (...) box, its telling me they are NULL. HELP!!

Its simple. Replace 1 image, and the phone does the rest. Heres the image I've used:

    Place that image in /usr/palm/sysmgr/images/

Or, you can edit your own. Really, you can make it say or do whatever you want, all it does is take the palm-logo.png and the palm-logo-bright.png and fade between the two, its a very basic system.
How do we access this directory ----> in /usr/palm/sysmgr/images/

You can either root your pre, or use WebOS Quick Install. I have done both, and I recommend the latter.
