    I will be away for this weekend so the next Theme Manager release will happen on Monday, it will add the html patching support and maybe something else.

    Now I have noticed that 2.2.4 update is coming for some phones at least. If you want to play it safe then unapply the theme before the update, but what I am hoping more is that people leave the theme on then install the OTA and then try to unapply the theme (i.e. apply default theme). This way we get to test the new OTA safe part of the AUPT-5 that is used by Theme Manager. So if you do this please report back even if you get the default theme succesfully applied after the OTA. I naturally will be testing this myself once the update is available and I am back at home, but we need others to test this as well to know if that part of AUPT-5 fully works.

    If you get problems please send me the webos-themes.log file.

    I genuinely don't see how you get this theme manager, I've typed "manager" on Preware but nothing.
    Was sucked into Palm when I bought the glorious Treo650, somehow subsequent phones didn't live up to expectations.

    You'll need the alpha and/or beta feeds enabled.

    So I am about to do the release to allow the patching of html files, but I am still bit wondering that do I allow patching of all html files or only index.html files. So for now would allowing patching of index.html be enough for you to be able to make the theme you are after?

    Every option in Preware, feeds and preferences, is ON (although I can't see a beta or alpha option), no theme manager.

    Yes, themes haven't been updated yet to support 2.2.4. But you can edit them by yourself and add the version. Just edit the theme.json of the theme and add:
    "2.2.4": {"alias": "2.2.0"},

    In front of the actual theme version, for example the theme file can have:
    "themedata": {
    "2.2.0": {

    So to change that to:
    "themedata": {
    "2.2.4": {"alias": "2.2.0"},
    "2.2.0": {

    Naturally if the theme has 2.2.3 instead of 2.2.0 the alias should be set to 2.2.3. Although I am thinking of releasing 0.9.2 theme manager with added support for ignoring the version if user really wants to try install the theme in unsupported version. Since for example change from 2.2.3 -> 2.2.4 is so small that most likely all themes work. This way user would not need to wait update for the theme.

    I'll update my themes when I get home from work in about 10 hours.
  14. #374
    i didnt add anything, i just changed 2.2.3 to 2.2.4 as i have uk pre3. playing around i have lost system menus as it just results in errors of repeated files in the log. changing the name from file by adding orig fixes it, but you have to go through the whole process of repeating the install and resulting in another file having same problem. i ended up giving up on that

    Do the themes installed via 'Theme Manager' need to be uninstalled before an OTA update?
    Pre3 (AT&T meta-doctored to ROW) webOS 2.2.4 build 3175
    TouchPad WiFi (32GB) - webOS 3.0.5 build 86
    App Catalog (US) - Vodafone (India)

    Treo 180 > 270 > 600 > 650 > 680 > Pre+ > Pre2 > Pre+ > Pre3 & tPad

    The installed themes can stay, there is no harm in that. But if you want to avoid trouble then unapply your theme (i.e. apply default theme) before OTA. However TM should be OTA safe, but I haven't yet fully tested that so for now its safer to go to default theme before OTA, but it should work even after OTA.

    The goal is that TM would be fully OTA safe, so you can just update webOS then update theme packages via preware open TM and just re-apply the current theme. But this sequence is not yet tested with actual OTA update, only with some self made tests

    We are working to get a public repository for the themes (this is actually the reason why Theme Manager is not yet in public feed). So at the moment you can only look for this thread (or other threads in here) for the themes that have been currently converted into TM format.
