Here is the answer from the link. It is in large red font on the link:

"If you are posting a request for assistance in this thread, you must include a full log of the terminal window where you cloned the meta-doctor, where you ran the script, where the script automatically downloaded the doctors, and where the doctor flashed your phone. Any requests for assistance which do not contain this information will be ignored."

Ok, that's a good start. Sorry I can't help you diagnose it, but I'm sure someone can. Certainly rwhitby when he gets on this evening.
  7. #3547
I have the same failure point as falmy2. Base ROM Failed Verification. I won't repost the terminal data, as it's the exact same failure.

I however am not flashing 2.1, I am plussing a Pre- with an AT&T Plus.

What's wrong is you're not posting the output log of all of that.

ok before i start the process i will write down everything i do.

right now i have deleted the cygwin

    -i will download the cygwin
-after installing i will write the patch python, make etc and download
    - since i don't have the net only wi-fi I cant turn back up off
-cygwin will ask me to download a packages click yes

    -after all is done

Go to Start>Programs>Cygwin>Cygwin Bash Shell to open a terminal
    type :git clone git://git.webos-internals.org/tools/meta-doctor.git
Download and install the Palm Novacom software or the driver
go back to the command file and type cd meta-doctor and mkdr download to create the download folder in meta.

steps 3-copy and paste cd meta-doctor and press enter
copy and paste git pull press enter
type make clobber press enter after all is done i will copy and paste
    ./scripts/meta-bellmo-pre-2.1.0

steps 4--after all is done it will create 4 folder in the build folder

after all is done according to description in steps 4, my file should be in the meta-doctor/build/meta-sprint-pre-2.1.0/webosdoctorp101ueu-wr-2.1.0.jar (but for Bell)
donno if this is write but after everything is done im suppose to run this command into the same screen java -jar webosdoctorp100ewwsprint-1.3.5.1.jar (but Bell)
i will put my cell into usb mode before it ask me to choose English and connect the cell to pc.

In other words where i think im having problem is after all is done, its the command to have the webdoctor start. anyhow
those are the steps i will be using. let me know if i wrote something wrong .

i will tape and try to capture the log also.

    tks
You've just said you are going to run a different doctor to the one the script reports as the output file.

If you're going to blatantly ignore the instructions you should just stop now.

Seriously, don't post another message until you include the full log, cause at this point I don't believe what you say or interpret and want to see only the cold hard facts that a full log shows.

Anyone who is getting a ROM verification error should use Linux instead, cause your windows and cygwin is corrupting the build.

  11.    #3551
Since no Windows or Cygwin experts have stepped up to diagnose the cause of the ROM verification error corruption that using windows and cygwin is causing, I am contemplating modifying the Makefile to detect windows and refuse to run ...

Noooo dont do that. I want to be able to use cygin have been all along. i am not an expert and dont know why its working i just followed the directions. the UAC was added to the wiki and i know that i have had mine set to low or off all along. i know some people are having problems and they should use linux if they cant figure it out but please dont make it not work on cygwin for those of us that it does work for. if i was an expert i would mos def help. i wish i could help for everything the community has given me.
  13.    #3553
You guys who are successfully using windows need to diagnose and sort out the others then, since I have not seen anyone doing that.

It's very simple, if a significant number of people continue to have problems on windows, and no other windows folks step up to diagnose, it gets disabled.

Does anyone know why I cannot download certain apps on a Sprint Pre Plus with webos 2.1.0? I cannot download Notes or any Angry Birds games. They don't show up in the catalog, but if I have them sent to my phone via Palm's App website, the link I open on my phone says "The application cannot run on your current operating system. Use the Updates app to install the system update and try again." The apps show up in Preware, but still won't let me install them.

I have been using webos 2.1.0 on the Sprint Pre Plus for about a week now and most of my previous applications that were available on 1.4.5 downloaded automatically but certain apps didn't. I assumed this was because the app was not compatible with 2.1 yet, but after reading posts, others have been able to download apps on 2.1 that I cannot.

My Palm Profile on palm.com shows 9.9.9 and my profile info in the Accounts app shows Account Name "Dr. Skipped Firstuse" shaded in light gray. I have followed all the directions on Webos-Internals upgrading to 2.1.0. I turned off backups and deleted backup info and doctoring back to 1.4.5, which results in my palm profile on palm.com showing 1.4.0.1. I then turned off backup again and doctored back to 2.1.0 and with the same results, 9.9.9 and "Dr. Skipped Firstuse". I have done this process multiple times following the directions on webos-internals with no luck. When I doctor my phone to 2.1.0, I have to activate my pre and login to my profile and once done, almost all my apps download automatically except the ones mentioned above.

    Thank you,

    Jason

Hey guys, while i was doctoring my pre plus to 2.1 it got atleast past 88% (i wasn't looking at the doctor past then) and then it said that the restore failed, now when i turn on my pre the linux penguin shows up and i cant do anything, any ideas?

First of all, thank you Rod & webOSInternals. I will continue to donate. I took your advice and moved to my linux pc. Everything built perfectly, but I have not run the doctor yet. My problem is, I'm not well versed with Linux, and literally have 7 tabs open in my browser that are searching for a solution to my problem.

My problem, none of my USB ports on my linux pc (linux mint-latest stable release) are recognizing the Pre is even plugged in. I have stumbled on numerous posts & pages about mounting a usb device, but I really have no idea if I'm headed down the right path. If this question belongs in it's own thread, just let me know & I'll remove it. Can anyone assist? Thanks again.

    Windoze people:

TURN OFF YOUR VIRUS SCANNERS WHEN DOING THIS!

It's just a hunch, but I've got a pretty damn good feeling that's what's going on.

Ok, to have the Doctor recognize your Pre, you don't need to mount it or anything. You just put your Pre in recovery mode, run the Doctor, and when it asks you to plug it in, you plug it, and that should be it.

If you have problems, you could grab the Doctor file and use it on your Windows 7 machine

First, thank you for the quick response. No snark in my reply at all, just to avoid misinterpreting the 'tone' of the coming response. I try not to post if I haven't already exhausted several hours trying to figure it out myself.

That said, I started in the recovery mode & 'next' never appears. I also used the wiki & tried the USB troubleshooting there too. Still no 'next'. It was at that point that I headed down that awful mounting road. So, at your advice, I will go ahead & move the file to Win 7 & see if the file I created in Linux helps solve my issues.

Anyway, thanks again, and if anyone else has insight, let me know. It really was MUCH easier to use Linux up to my current point. We really only use it for the educational software for our kids, and some home theater solutions I toy with, but I'd love to do my Pre work on this machine. Much smoother process (to this point...hehe).

Well, you may have to dig among the thousands of posts in this thread, as I'm pretty sure something about an incompatible usblib library in newer Linux distributions.

That's some of the reasons Rod often mentions Ubuntu (also in the Wiki). I've done all my work on Ubuntu and never had any trouble.

I only had to use Windows to unlock my Pre- when using NextGenServer, and that's about it... everything else has been under Ubuntu.
