I tested Linphome 1.0.3 with starface, a company voip solution and must say that it didn't work so well. Phone did register without any problems but when I called someone my voice was almost not to be heard, and I could not hear anything. It was like ny speakers where off. I will try the new version and maybe look for the right audio codecs

First: Any other gizmo users out there that want to test with me?
    So here's my experience..

I could make and receive calls over SIP (using sip2sip.info) tried on EA ("2.1") and 1.4.5 over WiFi. (Didn't try 3g)

I tried Gizmo Project, and that was more mixed..
Making/receiving calls, I couldn't hear any audio on my end, but they could hear me.
It seemed like the other side could hear an echo, have to check some more to be sure..

Also, made calls with sip2sip.info, including receiving a call from someone on another provide, and all looked good there.

I Tried linphonec in ubuntu and it worked fine, so it does seem like an issue with the webOS version, which is weird.

I just got the idea (intentionally or not) from thibaud to try linphonec directly. On ubuntu 9.10 everything worked fine with Gizmo project, but not on linphonec from the pre. So looks like it's an issue with the binary and/or source. Can't really imagine why, but.. "it is what it is"

UPDATE: I tried 0.1.5, and turns out works FINE over 3g, i switched to Wifi, and same issue - they can hear me, I can't hear them. I wonder how this is possible. (Thibaud has informed me that there have been no core linphone changes so using a diff version won't change this problem.)

Yep, please move to 0.1.4, major issue with 0.1.3 fixed. See Rod's post for details on how to get updated.

Sometimes when I answer the phone one I am calling linphone puts additional numbers after the number on the dialpad I was able to do all this on a wifi only phone meaning no cell service. That leads me to question If I can ring the phone from my non activated device am I missing something in the setup or does this app require the phone to be activated to use the service.

I also cannot receive incoming phone calls. no matter which service I try to setup. Once I call the linphone number I get the popup Call error: need to confirm registration and then it ha the reg_pending message. I have a log I if that will help. Also after making two calls I get the waiting to register error the only way I can get make the phone register again is to reinstall linphone over it self. Thibaud I have a log I just pm'd you my email address so I can email it to you.

Linphone alpha testers: Pixi support is now available & you are welcome to give it a try!

Take the previous URL and change '4' to '5' to get version 0.1.5 for your device (see quoted text, keep '-pre' or '-pixi' at the end).

    ChangeLog:
    Revision linphone-0.1.5

    - Fixed CSS so full Pixi support is now available (borrowed some buttons from Pixi's ROOTFS, differentiated Pre & Pixi in CSS, app now tests 'screenHeight' to identify which Pre or Pixi class to activate...)
PS: an IPK is being released for the Pre as well but there is no change to be seen nor expected. Might be worth the test for the braves, though

Thx for your detailed reporting (this one & the following). My next target is now 2.x using your data.

Alpha testers, relaying this tweet from Rod:
Linphone alpha testers: version 0.1.6 is available from the usual place. No func. changes, but upgrades *after* this one will be smoother.
Many of you have been facing update issues (when no prior removal of the app) where the newly installed version would become non-launchable/non-functional. This is fixed now for future revisions!

You still need to remove any version < 0.1.6 before installing this new one, though...

    Salut Thibaud,

Just tested on german O2 Pre with sipgate.de, works fine for in- and outgoing calls to german landline numbers but repeatedly got the problem that linphone freezes in state "Waiting for service to come up..." and only a reboot allows a new connect to sipgate.

Great! I assume this happened when moving from 0.1.3 to 0.1.[456], right?

Could you elaborate a bit more (app version & actions)? Especially on which actions take the app to the "Waiting for service to come up..." situation?

An excerpt from the /var/log/messages would definitely be a plus if you know how to do that (WOI's Lumberjack app is your friend, thank you oil!).

Just updated to 0.1.6 just for the heck of it. Patiently waiting for the username field to appear when you start adding functionality again. Linphone works great on my Ubuntu box. Thanks for introducing me to it.

Pre with webOS 1.4.5, Linphone 1.1.5, Wifi with very good connect: the problem came up when I was called and the call ended by remote. Linphone lost the connect to the gateway and wasn't able to reconnect.
Updatet Linphone to 1.1.6 and I haven't had this problem again.

Hummm ... no idea yet, but I'll give it try and will report here as far as get it running.

That's weird to say the least! 0.1.6 is technically the same app as 0.1.5, it only brings an improvement when it'll come to app update (libraries replicated so the update process can safely overwrite the original ones...).

May I suggest you try to replicate the issue under 0.1.6, it should still be there...

Linphone 0.1.6 has been working flawlessly. I can switch between 3G & WiFi with any problems. Linphone answers every time. Any problems I was experiencing before 0.1.6 appear to be resolved. I can't wait to see more features added, like dial tones on post call, but ultimately Linphone works great. It's very solid! Mad props to the software developers working on this!

Just to confirm that Linphone 0.1.6 is very stable on my old Pre (webOS 1.4.5) and all the issues observed earlier are fixed (including: 'Waiting for the service to come up...' which I encountered from time to time on an old Pre as well).

Hope it will be the same on Pre2 when the next version is released.

    Excellent work !

0.1.6 fixed the REG_PENDING problem I was having with 0.1.3.

I've noticed another issue (wich I can't replicate though): Last time I called somebody my phone was on loudspeaker and I had no idea why.

Also, the incoming call notifications are very intermittend. Most of the time I don't get a notification at all, even if the app is running and REG_OK (notifications while app was closed never worked).
