Bluetooth doesn't seem to turn off if I toggle of BT tethering. It just shows the progress icon perpetually and BT stays on and has to be manually turned off.

Also, how exactly does USB tethering work? I'm using Windows 7. After I toggle USB tethering on, what else do I have to do? Thanks in advance for any help.

Feel free to use the button in our posts as well :P

(not just me - but a good rule of thumb to those like egaudet who do a lot of forum work with the devs!)

Any plans to allow a "Swipe to remove/block" option in the "connected devices" window? if people are forced to leave their network open (non WPA2 enabled devices, etc) then they can at least block/lock people out as they see fit? Just a thought

I believe this has been reported already, but I can confirm:

The FreeTether Wifi broadcast continues after app is closed. (FT app window was swiped closed, without toggling off the FT Wifi broadcast.)

SSID continues to broadcast, and can be connected to.
    WPA security on.

    Donated to say thanks!

    Brief followup to above...
I reopened FT app. Wifi toggle showed as OFF, but IP FORWARDING light was ON. (DHCP SERVER light was OFF).

    Tethering still worked.

Toggling WIFI On, then OFF worked to disable SSID broadcast, and tethering.

Thanks for all the hard work on this!!

You're supposed to toggle off Wi-Fi tethering in the app. I think it's good the tethering runs in the background without having to have the app open all the time or even accidentally closing it.

From here: If the Droid's "unlimited" data plan from Verizon is only 5 GB a month, how much data do people usually use? - O'Reilly Answers
The $30 plan that you got to surf the web and to play with your apps. This plan includes "UNLIMITED" data usage. It does NOT have 5GB cap. This has been confirmed by 3 verizon reps on our site. Also confirmed if you read the terms and conditions of the data plan you purchase. The terms and conditions can be found on their website, or below this paragraph.
I have also been told this from two different reps, and have went over 5GB a few times with no complaints, just not with the Mobile Hotspot app running, which is why I'm wondering if Verizon will see freeTether as if it was MHS.

Dhcp and IP forwarding lights are both green, security is open. When I try and find the freeTether network, both win7 and apple ipod touch 4th gen dont see anything.

am I suppose to close freeTether after turning on the appropriate options. (I assumed I had to leave it open)

wow that worked!!! thanks didnt realize I should close the program.

I know this is mentioned in the todo list, but if the application is closed the user will think the application isn't running any longer. So here in part is why Mobile Hotspot has notifications that appear and say Mobile Hotspot is still running.

So yes and no it isn't normal practice. It is good that it still runs if the user didn't turn it off. Its bad that it doesn't notify the user it is still running.

But this is a first release. Im not being picky myself. All good things come to those who wait. You could still be at 0.0.1 if it wasn't for the great webos internals

I donated, but im going to wait till the storm is over and then try it. Mobile Hotspot works fine for me. And with some users mentioning about slower speeds. Im a don't fix it if it an't broke kinda guy. But i'd much rather use a webos internals app , makes me feel nerdier.

Does any one had this prob?

If I'm using security it is not working, if I change it back to Open it is working.

Any idea or am I missing something in any other setting?

    Thanks

This sounds like the problem I am having with my blackberry.

I did successfully tether my laptop (XP) a little bit ago, will try a Linux (Sabayon) laptop later, and my kindle.

I'm running freeTether v0.99.6 on an unlocked Pre2 with webOS v2.0.1 on AT&T and it's working great for me here. I've only tried the Wi-Fi connection so far as I don't have any need for BT or USB tethering at the moment.

My Windows 7 laptop sees the freeTether SSID (both open and WPA2 protected) broadcasted from the Pre2 just fine.
