Current Version:
0.6.0: Initial public beta release

Description:
zcorder is a multimedia recording solution. Currently, it features the ability to record from a microphone, as well as a "media capture" option that allows you to record what other apps are playing (good for cutting ringtones).

Installation Method:
This is a public beta release, available from the webos-internals feed. Preware is the only tested method of installation.

Q & A:
Q: What do I do if I had previously installed "precorder"?
A: Uninstall it, otherwise I have no idea. I'm not that smart.

Who made this?
In short, zsoc did most of the labor, and PuffTheMagic is the genius behind the basic structure of the service. In long, everyone in Webos Internals had something to do with it.

Who do i give my monies?
Send them here --> <--- all donations go back into development.

Do you think you will ever add the feature to record phone conversations?

Downloading now! Will report back!

OK, I love this app, recorded volume seems a little low on playback of both speaker and headphones, very clear sound though!

Awesome. I <3 you.

Also, now I can record lectures with my Pre!~ I've been jealous of this since the guy sitting next to me started recording lectures with his WinMo piece of junk! Yay!

Looking good.. Suggest putting a link to open the playback folder directly from the app..

Just downloaded, friggin awesome! It records even when the screen is locked!! Once again, incredible work, guys!

One glitch that I noticed that's probably not connected with zcorder is if you are recording and you lock/unlock the phone it creates little blips (tiny little ones, not horrible by any means) in the audio. I do have UberK/Govnah set up to use screenstate so the change in clock speed might be what's causing it. I'll try again with the speed set to default and report back.

There's a new kernel change in development which may fix that glitch. We believe the DSP may be having problems when overclocked.

So do you have to plug in a Mic (or something with a mic) into the headphone jack? Or is this actually somehow using the Mic on the Phone

It uses the Mic on the phone for voice recording.

There is a sophisticated gstreamer C service embedded in the package along with Mojo app, and it is this service which allows us to access the Mic without a Mic API from Palm.

Last question.. I promise (crosses fingers)

Would this then allow recording of conversations or is that still in need of the actual Mic API

Wow, nice work! Also wondering about phone conversation recording, THAT would be the final check on my wish list.

According to the info page, this is GPL v2 Open-Source. Where would one find the source for the gstreamer service? I'm curious to "look under the hood". :-)

Update: Nevermind, I found it in git:

You can use Internalz to browse to the "recordings" folder and delete the file from the USB drive.

If I have an external speaker plugged in, it does not record. Bug ? Feature ?

Great App, Thanks to everyone who contributed!

Another Q: I can't seem to get VOX mode to work, is this a future implementation, or I am I missing something?
