    wIRC 0.3.2
    Sprint Pre 1.4.5
    irc.freenode.net:7000 SSL selected

"preferred interface" seems to not be working for me. The only way I can get it to connect over EVDO is by turning off wifi on the pre. If i have wan(ppp0) selected, wIRC still connects over wifi. "Use fallback" has no effect. I'm also not sure what "use external IP" is supposed to do, but it has no effect either.

Also, in server settings advanced, proxy area seems to have nothing to do with a proxy. "don't part on close" and "auto open favorites"?

If "auto open favorites" is supposed to open my favorite channels, it doesn't work either. I have to put /join #channel in perform on connect to get autojoined.

    edit:
Well, I thought maybe SSL had something to do with it, but deselecting SSL and removing the SSL enabled port from my server choice and wIRC is still not connecting over EVDO unless I disable wifi on the pre.

Those settings are for use with an IRC proxy (or "bouncer") which allows you to keep a persistent session with an IRC server (saving a backlog of messages) even if your local client disconnects.

Often, you may want to be in many channels on your desktop IRC client, but only a few of those channels when on the mobile client. These two settings allow for that.

It may just be me, but when after doctoring my Verizon Pixi Plus to 1.4.5 I can't find wIRC in Preware anymore.

Ahh, I've always used screen on unix host for that kind of thing.

    Any insight on preferred interface?

Seems like the preferred interface code broke in the hybrid transition. I will have to check that out.

Didn't see wIRC in preware (I've had this issue with other apps), so I manually found it in the feed folder and installed it that way. It didn't work, so I read the discription in Preware and found out why.

    Index of /feeds/webos-internals/armv7/
    (For pre and pre pluses)
    http://ipkg.preware.org/feeds/webos-....1.0_armv7.ipk
    http://ipkg.preware.org/feeds/webos-....2-1_armv7.ipk
If you're on a Pixi, I bet if you go up a directory and look in the 'all' and 'armv6' folders you'll find something.
    Or I might...
    http://ipkg.preware.org/feeds/webos-....1.0_armv6.ipk
    http://ipkg.preware.org/feeds/webos-..._0.2.4_arm.ipk
Can't seem to find 0.3.2 for Arm6 (Pixi). Maybe try the armv7 (Pre) version and see if it works?

Yeah I can't find this in Preware either. I have all the feeds turned on and pretty sure settings are right.

alright I'm still confused... I'm new to all this and teaching myself a lot so bear with me.

what really is an irc? I know it's some kinda chatroom server but how does it work?
I saw that you can join a bublic server (whhich it's designed for but how do you make a privit one? And who can join it? Like is it only palm users with wirc or something more broad?

    An IRC Tutorial

Google has lots of other results as well. Try irc tutorial, irc howto, irc what is it, etc.

I just got on irc last year or so, I really enjoy it and the Puff and oil and the others on the wIRC project have done a great job.

    bug report:

connected, bad signal strength, in and out of roaming, lose connection but wIRC dooes not know it.

throw both cards away (server card still shows green connection icon) and restart wIRC.

initialization screen shows (before 'waiting for plugin message) w pulsing icon, and never progresses from that.

    lumbarjack says:
    [2010-09-09 21:55:34] (wIRC) Uncaught Error: NOT_FOUND_ERR: DOM Exception 8, file:///media/cryptofs/apps/usr/palm/applications/org.webosinternals.wirc/app/assistants/app-assistant.jsjsjs:$53$

multiple launches of app no help.

    restart phone all is well.

Yeah, I have yet to track that down. (It's already in trac.)

Killing any errant wIRC processes with JsTop (swipe it in the list) will allow you to successfully launch it without restarting your pre.

    Hi All,

Does wIRC store it's logs anywhere? Tried using the beta SSL, I get connected to the server that is using SSL but then get disconnected about 30 seconds later.
