Preware is open source. That's an addition that any webOS developer could contribute.

I personally use the default Palm light theme for absolutely everything, and am trying to get apps like Spaz to support that

Sorry for the delay, and thanks for the assistance. I've checked, that is the version I'm on. There have been a few reboots between then and now - 1.4 likes to reboot ;-)

Please try to provide more detail of exactly what you've done (step by step) when requesting help. WebOS already comes pre-installed on your device. What do you mean you installed it? What were you doing (installing something?) when you got the error?

i downloaded preware from webos and package manger but everytime i open preware i get fatal configuration failure. not sure what to do.

The first thing would be to give a better problem report, including (but not limited to) such things as the webOS version you are running, the versions of preware and ipkgservice you installed, the version of the tool you used to install them, and the exact error message.

Just a note, total wishlist item...

I implore someone with the skill to add an option to ignore a vendor or developer (with a list to add/remove).

Example, PalmAgent, Inc flooding the developer.palm feed.

And Preware is awesome, totally makes the OS worth it.

    Thanks!

Agreed. This is a great item for someone who is interested in becoming an open source Preware developer to take on as a challenge.

I remember reading an article saying you didn't have to do the emergency patch removal anymore when a new system update came out, but I am not sure what needs to be done. I am trying to update to 1.4.1.1 and i don't want to mess up my phone. do I need to do anything first?
  12. #5692
If you're OCing, then remove that, you don't need to remove regular patches.

    quick question:

after updating to 1.4.1.1, I've noticed that Preware doesn't show updates from the Palm App Catalog anymore. I still can view the complete list, but it does show as a package update. (Preware v0.9.31, PMS v0.9.44, webOS v1.4.1.1). An example of this would be the FourSquare app that got an update in the Web Apps feed showed up as an update in the App Catalog app, but not in Preware.

Is this widespread, or just a glitch I am noticing?

I can move this post to the general update issues thread if that is the correct place for it.

    Thanks, and webosinternals rocks!

We turned off the app catalog feed updating while working on the patch feeds, to make sure there was no chance of corruption of either. It's back on again now and should update in the next 15 to 30 minutes.

Ive used Preware successfully for a few months now and its Amazing.

" Failure during 'getConfigs' operation "

I noticed a few other similar complaints recently, is there a an easy fix? Im about to doctor it again.. i cant live much longer without Preware!! haha

You could have just made sure that you had installed the Package Manager Service as well, and selected Update Feeds - you would have only needed to do those things once.

I just updated to 1.4.1 (bell pre) and am trying to launch pre-ware and it keeps getting stuck on "loading palm catalog" - left it for a good 10m and still in the same spot...

I did a reboot and tried again but same issue... any suggestions?

    Try temporarily disabling the feed.
