It started for me after I updated my webos. I didn't do anything to preware, and couldn't get on it. So I deleted preware and package manager like the directions said and followed them to a T. Still having the issue, tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times.

The developers cannot reproduce this problem.

Please join the IRC channel at freenode Web IRC (qwebirc) so we can debug it.

Until we get someone coming to the IRC channel, we won't be able to even diagnose what the problem is, let alone fix it.

The goal of all installer developers (Preware, fileCoaster, WebOS Quick Install, PreLoad, etc) is to allow users to install packages, themes, patches, etc.

It's great for people to have a choice of installer for installing basic homebrew packages (note that fileCoaster cannot install themes, patches, or advanced homebrew packages like Preware, Terminal, Internalz, or the upcoming Backup and Video Recorder applications).

Thanks for giving the people who are having a problem with Preware installation a temporary alternative

Upgraded to 1.3.1, using the latest Webos quickinstall and latest preware. Virtual keyboard installed fine, but battery percentage patch and call log duration patch won't install in Preware, giving the IPKG error.

    Anyone tried them?

    Thanks.

Did you remove all your patches before updating webos, then reboot and update feeds after updating webos?

I removed virtual keyboard before updating but not the battery/call log patches. After updating to 1.3.1, I can reinstall battery/call log patches well but not virtual keyboard.

I figured my preware was a very old version, so i removed the battery/ call log patches and updated webos quickinstall and preware to the latest version, then virtual keyboard can be installed and used properly, but battery/call log duration can't be installed...

For anyone having an issue where upon opening Preware, you are told you don't have package manager service installed and you know you do, access linux and enter
    luna-send -n 1 luna://org.webosinternals.ipkgservice/status '{}'
That will make it work until you reboot. An answer is in the works

You need to use the EPR.

Thank you for your reply. I applied those patches succesfully in webos quickinstall (not in preware). It's really good.

Excellent work!!!! Preware is now really really fast on my Pre with 1.3.1. This is now the kind of app that people can use to show of the speed of their Pre.

I would suspect the package manager was left out or needs to be re-installed.

lol I am doing the same exact thing 1.3.1 is downloading now. What is the easiest way to get preware back on the phone? Download the .exe file and place it directly on the phone or use webos?

Yep, we still don't have anyone with a repeatable test case yet (Vicini's magically fixed itself), and none of the developers can reproduce the problem.

Joining the IRC allows us to discuss and debug the problem in real-time.

There is no file sharing required.

The first line shows that the Package Manager Service has started correctly, and is responding well.

The line with "org.webosinternals.ipkgservice upstart: done" shows that the startup of Package Manager Service is completed, and it is ready for Preware to access it.

But there are all these other lines related to MyTether and Prelease (the old service used for Flashlight). My guess (and it's only a guess) is that they might have something to do with it, as they certainly are not operating correctly according to this log.

I have just recently started using Preware. When I attempted to download apps from the official app catalog, I kept getting the message that the "App Storage is Full". Despite erasing several apps I still got the same message. After erasing Preware and Package Manager Service, I was able to download official apps again. However, upon reinstalling Preware this same problem reoccured. By the way this happened both w/ and w/o patches installed. Does anyone have a suggestion as how to fix this? I really like Preware, but not being able to download official apps is a pain.

If it helps, I never rooted or installed MyTether or Prelease and I still have the PMS (hehe) problem.

Hi, I am experiencing th sme problems. Preware has always worked well until I updated to 1.3.1 now the roam path refuses to work and I get the download app problem with not enough memory.
