Guess I'll be upgrading one of them to webOS 2, once I get my service issues cleared.

It would be great if this app is getting married with FreeTether.

That way it might be possible to gain acces to the Pre's GPS and not only use it with TP but also with PC's/Laptops. Then there is no need to carry an extra external GPS around anymore. An usb connection can be preffered above Bluetooth so it can charge at the same time.

What do you people/developers think?

Could someone go over procedures with me to get this to reliably connect to Mapping Tool Pro? Most of the time, Mapping Tool Pro just decides it's going to use the "Internal" setting on my TouchPad, regardless of what i tell it. Also, last time I tried this, when I did get a connection, I'd only get a single update from the Pre GPS, then it would just freeze right there.

I've tried multiple times with MapTool Pro and Maps3D. All I ever see is some European map. It looks like PreGo is running properly.

Using a white ATT Veer on Bell Mobility.

I'm working on it. It seems PreGo GPS doesn't work correctly, because both apps run fine with a real BT GPS device.

I can see that PreGo is getting a GPS fix, but I've yet to get it to sync up with my TouchPad.

I know, the GPS fix isn't the problem, but somehow the communication doesn't work anymore. MapTool/Maps3D are reading but never get any results.

Found the problem and submitted an update for PreGo GPS to the catalog. Map.3D was also updated and both work fine together now. MapTool Pro will be update over the weekend and then it should work too.

This sure would have been handy, but I can't get the Treo to see my Pre3 as anything except a Bluetooth phone profile device, so no connection from the Tom Tom app. even turned on Pre Go before pairing. Any ideas?

Thanks for this great app! Thanks to this and freetether, I've been able to turn my tablet into something fare more useful. Being able to have access to gps on something besides my veer makes using it far easier.

This sounds like a great idea ! I own a Pixi+ with 1.4.5 and now a TP 16 GB. I am very interested in getting my maptoolpro to work with the GPS Receiver of my Pixi. I often only have errors smaller than 5 m.

I have 3 questions:

1. does anyone know if, when i get 2.1 on my pixi, there is a working bluetooth profile for Data then. This would be the only argument for me to try this out.

2. Is the TP working with a real external GPS bluetooth device ?

3. When i connect my TP over freetether on my Pixi to the Internet, would there be data exchange over prego gps to the TP? I assume, that this data traffic is much more less than Picture-Data for Maps or something. Otherwise it wouldnt make sense for me?

* webOS 2.1 has the serial BT profile included.
* the TP also works with a real external BT GPS device, it's usually even better than using the GPS of your Pixi for that
* Freetether uses the Dataconnection, PreGo GPS sends the location data, you could btw try to use the network conncetion between PreGo GPS and MapTool, should work.

I will try this and make a Report here in the forum.

Also i will try to get my hands on a cheap second Pixi+ for playing around with WebOS 2.1.

The first one lives well in my "production environment".

So i tried right now to get the connection Pixi+ and TP 16 GB to work here in my office over WLAN.
The Pixi sits at the open window and has a GPS Fix.

So how can i go further to get this wifi-connection. i started prego gps on the Pixi. Taped Network, then i started MP pro on the TP. But nothing happened....... :-(. Is there something i have to do ......

To get the device selection on start you need to enable bluetooth and have the device selection enabled in the settings. One of the #devices' is then network. select it, enter you Key which is displayed in PreGo GPS and it should work.
