Hey folks, sorry for the trouble here. You'll have to excuse my first homebrew submission, I'm sure I managed to screw something up.
I will get this resolved as soon as I can, you can follow my Twitter feed @error454 and I will also post here once all is well. *Until you hear back from me, there's no need to post here with +1's as the issue is easy to repro. |

Wow this has to be the best I have seen xvid files played on my touchpad.
I had to install manually using the webosquickinstaller pc application as this isnt in the preware database but that doesnt take away from how good this thing is. Btw what does the thread number thing do. Also I am looking to stream xvid from my samba windows network shares like I can with my android nexus one phone (using es file explorer to stream the file and vplayer to play the xvid avi). Has anyone managed to make windows shared files properly visible (all i can do is stream from upnp/dlna shares which dont give you the choice of playing media with installed touchplayer instead of the internal media player one. Any way you can make a patch that will allow the internal media player to use the tools/codecs that makes touchplayer so successful? Sorry if this message has been a bit muddled. I have been awake a little too long. |

Download the .ipk file from TouchPlayer | The #1 HP webOS, TouchPad, Pre, and Veer Community | PreCentral.net
Then install that with WOSQI. Installed fine for me and plays videos pretty good

I couldn't download it from Preware, so I grabbed the ipk from precentral's app download area, threw it onto sendspace, went to the link on my TP, and just installed it from there.
First impressions: not bad for a first release. XviD videos play fine, 480p h264 mkv videos play okay but are kinda choppy, but 720p h264 mkv videos are pretty much a no-go for me. Hopefully the dev can tap into the GPU sometime in the future (instead of relying on the CPU for decoding). It would also be great if the dev could add subtitle support sometime in the future! |

Threads control the number of threads used to play the video, threads allow you to take advantage of having more than 1 cpu. Typically you set threads to the number of cores * 2. This would be 4 for the TP but I haven't noticed any big gains doing so.
This is not on my radar. The internal media player is limited for my uses because it doesn't scan symbolically linked folders. |

**EDIT** Wrong! I listed the wrong dependency, you actually need 2 of Jason's services. The filemanager service and the homebrew service. I believe installing Internalz will get you both. Last edited by Error 454; 08/25/2011 at 11:27 AM. |
