This is a new app that I have uploaded. I hope that it is useful for someone. Please let me know what you think. I did this app to learn Ares and WebOS. It is as stated a very simple app, but you have to start somewhere.

It allows you to use your pre for a basic flashlight. It uses the screen backlight as the flashlight and can be white or if you want to keep your night vision, red or blue. I got the idea of the light colors from an old camping flashlight I had as a kid that had these color lens.

Simple FlashLight can be found at:

Update: I have uploaded NSS FlashLight (available in the Homebrew repository) which is similar but uses the camera flash LED as the white flashlight.

Hey, thanks for making the app. Um, you should tell us a little more about it before we go hunting for it.

How does it work? What features does it have? Where can we find it?

Sorry for not replying, but forgot to subscribe to my own thread.
It is now in the repository for Homebrew apps. I will be putting an update out probably this weekend, since I have learned a little more and have a nicer way to do the various lights.

I have just uploaded version 1.2.0 which uses the main background color instead of trying to load an image. It looks better to me and works better when the phone is rotated.

Someone sent me a message about translating this into French, I am interested, but have seemed to have lost the message. I apologize, but could you please resend to me. I do not know if I can get to it quickly, but would like to have it as a future project.

    Hello graysoft

I found that Simple Flash Light is very useful and I have translated it in french.
For promoting Simple Flash Light for the french users, I wrote an article here :
Simple Flash Light : une lampe de poche de d├ępannage (├ęclairage par l'├ęcran)
with the package that include the french translation.

    Best regards.

PS : fix the URL for Simple Flash Light forum thread in the web page :
    http://www.precentral.net/homebrew-a...le-flash-light
    because
    the link "Official Forum thread"
    go to
    http://www.precentral.net/homebrew-a...0Flash%20Light
    and
    not at
    http://forums.precentral.net/homebre...ash-light.html

philesk, I believe that you are referring to NSS Flashlight which requires SysToolsMgr to be installed also. As of this time SysToolsMgr does not support the Pixi unfortunately, but I think that Jason (the developer who wrote the SysToolsMgr tools) is working on this. Please let me know if Simple Flashlight is not working with the Pixi.

yannick56, thanks for the translation, I am glad that you have found this app to be useful. I have also fixed the forum link on the app web page. Thanks for that heads up also.

yannick56, I went to your site and that is pretty cool. I wish more of my high school French stayed with me, but that was almost 30 years ago. :-( I would like to read the comments.
