I tried to adapt the UI to work full size on the TouchPad and the phone devices.
Waiting for your feedback. I hope I did not brake the main function as I couldn't test the lastFM playback ;-)

Does this app work if you've only got a free last.fm account? That's all I really need--I just want to be able to listen to my own station--but if you're not a paid subscriber, the official last.fm app doesn't work at all.

In Germany it works with a free account. Give it a try.

yep - it works with a free account anywhere - thats why its so good, the touchpad app is prettier but you then need to pay - although its not a lot.

I can confirm that the app indeed works with free accounts now, but it doesn't seem to scrobble when I play my own station. Since that's rather important to me, I've reverted to just playing it out of the browser.

Here is a new version. The only change is that it supports to display the current playing title on the Sony Ericsson MBW-xxx watch series with Metaviews app.

edit 07.Jan 2012: new version with same version number as there are no functional chnages. I only updated the MBW intigration to support the latest parameter. It now sends the appid and it's own icon

FYI, the official Last.Fm app in the App Catalog now lets you play your library wihtout a subscription

Here is a new version. The only change is that the player now supports landscape display on the touchpad and the album art is resized to fit the bigger display.

Happy to here that it still works on 1.4.5 as I never tested it. I only tested it on my Pre3 and my Touchpad.

I have a new version for you. It contains a lot of bug fixes and some new features.
The main new feature is that you now can start the playing of similar artists from the statistics screen. To use it tap the artist in the statistics page, on the artist details select the play button.
On the Album page you now can select play to play similar artists. The second play button starts playing the complete album. If you select a title in the album page it will now play that title.

Download the attachment and rename it to com.xscheme.lostfm_0.2.7_all.ipk

Thank you so much, I've been waiting for a usable last.fm app. I used lost.fm when it was on my Pre(till I updated to 2.x, and it broke). Don't get me wrong, I like Pandora, but I pay for last.fm

I got email from Last FM:

"We're writing you to let you know that there will soon be a change to Last.fm radio that may affect you. Our stats show that you've listened to radio through an application that uses our old streaming protocol. On 1 December we will deprecate this old protocol, so in some applications radio will no longer work."

Does this mean, that lost.fm will stop working after December 1st?

Any plans to adopt the App?

Hi,

I got this mail too. I expect that it will mean that the app will not work anymore. I did some investigations when I first started to make modifications to the app. The new api is verry different from the old one.
It could be possible to replace the api in the app with the new one, but it will be a lot of work which I do not have the time for.

I also tried to use the offical touchpad app on my Pre3. I was able to get the login working, but the app do not accept any touch commands. I did gave up there as they do not use the standard webos frameworks (enyo, moyo) for that app.

The complete code is in the package that I posted. So if someone have the time and interest to take over ...
