Sorry -- don't want to read the whole thread. Is there a way to set a mode when a particular app is opened? I read a lot on the pre and would like to automatically dim the screen when preader is opened and brighten it when preader is closed. Will MS do that?

It seems MS no longer has control over the lock screen. I have a mode for when my phone is on the touchstone and it's supposed to have the sceen always on and not lock, but I've tried lock screen, always on, and turn off but they all just go to the lock screen after the normal time.

Not at the moment at least. And to actually to be able to use app starting as a trigger for mode it would require patching the OS since currently WebOS does not support any easy way to get notified when app is opened. And for the trigger to close the mode when app is closed I don't even now that it would be possible currently in WebOS. So at least for now the mode need to be changed manually in this kind of situation, maybe later when WebOS evolves it offers means for app trigger.

Hmm this is working for me. I'll check if there still could be some race condition that it wont detect the touchstone before setting the screen mode. Can you try that if it has any effect that if you start the mode when phone is already in touchstone and if not already using the touchstone as a trigger for the mode then try that too. Also try with default mode (i.e. set the screen mode in default mode and see if it works).

It would help to know if it works in some condition.

Version 0.9.19 will hit the feed within next couple hours. The following is fixed in this release:

    - Default mode not saved if no previous configuration.

    - Default mode not loaded after initial configuration.

    - Time trigger custom days not saving.

    - Fixes for time trigger and hopefully it now works (If you still get time trigger to misbehave then please report the time limits you used and the "current" time when it failed to either close the mode or started the mode when it should not have).

    * Still waiting feedback & messages log from someone that has the mode reloading bug so I could try to figure why it is happening.

Actually the other way works fine -- I have added preader to the "read" mode so when I open the mode the app also opens. Just as easy.

I am a new user, and I'm having a problem similar to what Grappler reported. I have sent you the log and a more complete description. Maybe 9.19 already contains the fix for it!

This has not happened to me, but will check if there is a mistake in detection.

EDIT: scratch that this actually is the case so this bug is result of the trigger transformation. Will be fixed in 0.9.19.

I am having frequent mode reloads this morning on 0.9.18. How do I download the message log and where do I send it? Let me know and I'll do it right away.

Have you tried to restart phone or luna? Those messages means that MS was not started when phone was started. If restarting wont help then make sure that the start MS on luna boot patch is correctly installed or even uninstall / install that patch and the app.

New version (0.9.19) available with the fixes described couple posts back. Also the charger trigger bug was more general mis mode startup bug that should be now fixed. The restarting of mode is not yet fixed, but I have received logs from gpgyo and hope to resolve this issue with his help. So thanks for sending the log and "hopefully" it still happens with the 0.9.19 and you are able to send me a new log.

I did not had time to make sure that the time trigger is now 100% certain so report if any problems. I also coded a program that will test the time handling logic and will be going it through tonight. If I find more bugs with that then I release one more new version tonight. Tomorrow I will release new version with couple new configuration options (roaming and 2g/3g toggle) maybe also the voice roaming.

This sounds like a great, but I can't find "mode switcher" anywhere. I can find other patches/apps that reference it, but no mode swithcher. I tried the link from post 52 but it leads me nowhere (maybe because it is a bit older). Please let me know where I can find MS.

    Thanks

The app is still in beta so it can only be installed from my private feed. The info is in the very first post if you want to add the feed into Preware. After most of the bugs are fixed I will publish the app in webosinternals feed. This hopefully happens withing week or two.

Yes, I tired adding your feed in webos and it says cant connect. I am about to try it in Preware, maybe that is my problem. Another question, in the URL is that a hyphen? e-lnx or elnx

You can copy paste it to a browser to make sure it works. And it at least loads just fine for me the URL I mean. And yes it is like it is written e-lnx.

I had no problem getting to the feed today through Preware. I tried it a few times.
