download the ipk file from here (hom.ebrew section) and then load it via the webos quickisntall. syncing program is separate.

I'm not certain how fileCoaster and Preware work but this package appears not to install when downloaded using those apps. It looks to me like this package is zipped while others that do install using fileCoaster or Preware are not. Just a guess.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, tried installing thru Preware, but didn't work.

??? I didn't install through Preware - but I saw it's in there. Can anybody confirm, that its not possible to install directly by Preware or filecoaster?

You can get the PD-importer from the homepage.

Outlook-Sync is not planned so far - sorry. But I think there are enough programs in the wild to port your memos to PD. I'll maybe have a quick look how hard it is to get the memos out of Qutlook and into the ClassicNote-db...
What Outlook version (2k, 2k3, 2k7 ?) is most used?

    Whats planned:
    • little (PC)-desktop app for editing and writing memos
    • any kind of true sync between Pre and that PC-app. Most probably using a server for ota-sync.
    • a lot of features for organizing the memos like:
      • Choose a template memos for a category
      • give keywords to memos and list symbols corresponding to the keywords in the memo-list
      • order memos by hand (kind of give a priority)
      • subordinate memos below another memo (kind of tree structure)
    • lock categories by password (incl. a strong encryption)

I hope I can start the PC app during the chrismas holidays

    Cheers,
    Seppel

    1000 memos on my Pre!
can you tell how the pre performs with that amount of data? Especially I'm interested how fast the Memo-List and the scrolling still is?

...just loaded a new version of the importer (0.1.6) onto the homepage.
Now it imports the memos without a category as well

I would love it if there was planned outlook support this would be the app we all need for two way support of notes sync. At least I will be able to get my notes off outlook and onto the pre since the palm webos sync didn't work for me

    Hi,

is there the possibilty to backup the data via usb to an linux desktop?
I do not use a windows system and it would be nice to backup the data.

PS. at time your homepage seems to be broken

The homepage is not broken - but the URL forwarding doesn't seem to work for everybody You can use this link instead: click me

There's a Howto "manual backup" as well

Some notes for you regarding this...Preware does not see the package and does not list it. fileCoaster lists it but when tapped to install, it only downloads the package (into downloads) but does not install it.

I mentioned in a past post...I beleive it is do to the package being zipped. It appears to me that Preware and fileCoaster don't expect zipped files. Just a guess as I'm no expert in this; I just prefer to use Preware.

Just reupped the package in precentral - this time the plain ipk...
And got a few positive reports from preware-downloader and -installer already. So it should be ok by now.

Success! The file now appears in Preware and I just installed using it. Thanks for the app and all the work!

One thing that may be nice...can it read the existing notes from the built-in app and import them?

    cool app much needed

not on an easy way. There's no official API for the memos. And as far as I know, there's no way to open the database of another app without an API. So I would have to write a service for that. I think, that would be too much effort for too less effect - sorry.
But I'll enter a Feature Request into the Palm Dev Forum...
If they implement it as official API, I implement it into ClassicNote.

This app is BEAUTIFUL, thank you thank you thank you!!!

By far, this is the best note/memo implementation on the Pre to date.

The current features, i.e. formatting, undo, searching, are excellent!

Here's some ideas for the future:

    1. I would really like to be able to change the date format.
    2. It would allow more screen space within a note to make the categories button into more of a heading at the top.
    3. include the date at the top right within the note (include with #2? above)
    4. sorting or grouping by category within the entire list of notes
    5. set priority…perhaps even color code the titles (either for the categories or priority)
    6. +1 for emailing notes…although I could live with using copy & paste
    7. control the text size…not a biggie either
    8. landscape viewing

Anyhow, you've done very well with this app!!! Thanks!

    - extract all into one folder
    - execute Start_Me_Once.bat for registering the sqlite3.dll
    - you have to use PalmDesktop 6.? on that PC
    - make sure you have started ClassicNote on the Pre before and it is closed now
    - connect your Pre in USB-drive mode
    - after that start PDtoCN.exe
    - you should see the HotSync-user list on the left side - select one

I'm stuck on the 2nd to the last one above. I only get a error: "Run-time error '429': ActiveX component can't create object"

    Help?

hmm - a needed dll is missing on your system. Could you check:
    - is PD 6.x installed?
    - is any version of M$ Office installed?
    - the installation of the sqlite.dll was successful?

I check tomorrow which dlls exactly are needed. Maybe I can send them to you.

    Cheers,
    Seppel
