    BroadCAST Radio aims to be the most complete SHOUTcast(TM) client available for the Palm Pre and WebOS. Listen to over 30,000 professional and community based radio stations or add your favorite SHOUTcast stream. It features:

    -Currently playing track title where available*
    -Deep drill down of genres...all the way down.
    -Genre/Station Search
    -Favorites
    -Recents
    -Browse/Search for new stations while listening to a station
    -Dashboard w/ currently playing track information (where available)
    -Easy-to-use, intuitive, animated interface with battery optimizing features
    -Compatible with headphone play/pause toggle switch (within the limitations of the OS)

    *Track titles are available on the majority of stations but are not available for all stations due to limitations of the WebOS APIs

    This program is ad-supported with ads by Admob. It will always be a free download, even if/when it hits the App Catalog. All I ask is that you good folks at PreCentral provide constructive feedback and report any errors/problems that you might encounter so I can revise the app. It is closed source right now, but I will share some code if you need help with your application.

    Initial release is 0.1.6. Available in the Homebrew catalog and hopefully sometime in the future in the App Catalog. I know there will probably be some bugs to squash in this initial release as the beta tester pool was very small. There are some problems with the OS crashing on occasion when closing the application that I'm trying to track down. It's a pretty large application so there's a lot of code to go through. So, again, if you find a problem, report it and I'll see if I can't clean it up.

    ** Release 0.1.7: Updated to allow non-standard pls playlist files such as KMPS FM (Thanks for finding the bug SirWill)

    ** Release 0.1.8: Fixed ad rotation (Edit...nevermind...0.1.8 crashes).

    ** Release 0.1.9: Should improve dashboard close handling.

    ***RELEASE 0.2.0: Everybody should upgrade to the 0.2.0. It fixes graphics problems when other dashboards/notifications are present and greatly improves crash handling. It also slightly improves battery life and bandwidth usage. I also added the Comedy genre as requested. 0.2.0 is compatible with the Palm Pixi. It should be almost completely resolution independent.

    Screenshots available below.

    Cheers,

    You can add any pls stream. Go to Favorites and hit the + icon in the upper left corner. It'll drop down a field to add streams.

    I tried adding this pls url to it, and it acts like it is playing, but I hear no audio.

    http://provisioning.streamtheworld.com/pls/KMPSFM.pls

    It plays on my laptop just fine. I see it is using the mpga codec 64bit. vlc also says the location is http://208.80.54.71:80/KMPSFMCMP3 but it won't let me try to add that one even. Says it has to have a playlist.

    I know that one of the other shoutcast apps has a local stations selection that work on the pre, and this station is in that list and works.

    The problem is that KMPS issues a non-standard pls file so the program doesn't parse it correctly.

    Playlist files from SHOUTcast.com are structured like this:
    Code:
    [playlist]
    numberofentries=2
    File1=http://scfire-dtc-aa01.stream.aol.com:80/stream/1074
    Title1=(#1 - 121/900) .977 The Hitz Channel - 977MUSIC.COM - The #1 Hit Music Internet Radio Channel
    Length1=-1
    File2=http://scfire-ntc-aa08.stream.aol.com:80/stream/1074
    Title2=(#2 - 129/900) .977 The Hitz Channel - 977MUSIC.COM - The #1 Hit Music Internet Radio Channel
    Length2=-1
    The KMPS file is structured like this:
    Code:
    [playlist]
    File1=http://208.80.54.71:80/KMPSFMCMP3
    File2=http://208.80.54.71:3690/KMPSFMCMP3
    File3=http://208.80.54.71:443/KMPSFMCMP3
    Title1=KMPSFMCMP3
    Title2=KMPSFMCMP3-Bak
    Length1=-1
    NumberOfEntries=3
    Version=2
    I'll change the parser to be able to read different pls file structures in the first revision. (Probably have it done by Sunday).

    wow awesome it works exactly as advertized! Great job! Now if you could add the station bit rate and encoding it would be perfect!

    Station bitrate is already listed. It's even color-coded. 4th screenshot, right side of the screen. It's also listed in the Favorites and Recents screen. I don't think listing the encoding is that important so I don't think that's going to make it into the program.

    aac+ 64 is way better than mp3 64 so if I have to pick a 64 it will have to be aac+ otherwise I will go for a 128 mp3. So it is important.
