you do wut you gotta do..it would be cool if you added it but if you don't its alright we can still click it on the top right..I don't mind but of course it makes our lives eaiser...maybe even urs

Then add profiles that can be switched. Now we're talking a VERY useful app worth a pretty penny in my book.
Once I get all the basics features down I will bring the app out of beta. I would like to publish to Palm’s App Catalog, but don’t hold high hopes on acceptance. Timers and user profiles will come. Location based triggers… I'll have to think about it. I want to make sure that the app maintains it’s very small system resource footprint.

I took another look at being able to turn off just the phone radio and it looks like Palm has that service locked down. It only seem to work if its called from app id com.palm.systemui(top right dropdown).

    Next up
    • New Card interface
    • Choose which buttons are in the dashboard
    • Global Mute button
    • Profiles
    • Timed toggle triggers

Great app, thanks for the work.

I think I'm going to re-brand the app. I don't think the current name really means much to people who see it in the apps list. It seems like it's getting over looked some.

    Any Ideas?

For whatever it's worth, I don't see anything wrong with the current name.
And I liked the list rather than the icons.

    Still no roam-only toggle?

Roam-Only is listed... lower left button.

Why do you like a list better then icons?

Wow, your teaser screenshot is NICE.

For a name, if you're really looking at changing it, how about something like "Pre Profile Manager". It's developed way beyond "Quick System Tasks".

On Windows mobile, there was an app called "PhoneWeaver" that was very popular. If you want some more cool app ideas, Google it and check it out. But I'll tell you, I'm loving what you've done so far!!!

I was waiting for the roam-only toggle to come out, so I could ditch the separate ones for that and GPS I have. Can't wait for the new one!

    @gobanjoboy - That's looking Real Good!

    Okay, possible names -

SysMan - System Manager (got this one from OpenVMS)
DashMan - Dashboard Manager (adjust your system from the dashboard)
    ControlMgr or CtrlMgr- Control Manager
ProfMgr or ProfMan - Profile Manager

Easy enough to swap man and mgr.

If I think of any others, I'll post 'em...

    Cheers,

The question wasn't directed to me but I'll answer anyway. Call me lazy, but I don't want to learn a new set of icons to quickly use this app. The quick launch bar icons are so obvious, it's not a problem. (Even the one's I've added are obvious, e.g. messaging.) I know a couple of the QST icons will make me pause in the process of getting to what I want. If the icons had a description underneath (like launcher screen apps), I would be satisfied. Of course, that would probably necessitate making the icons a little smaller to allow room for text. Note, however, that the text doesn't have to be large. I imagine most HB users are taking advantage of 4x4 or 5x4 launcher pagers and are accustomed to small fonts.

I agree. The whole point of this app is to just get the job done, without
any added hassle. Not all of the icons meanings are obvious and without
on on-hover type of functionality, you can't really know for sure what it does
without hitting it, and learning it and remembering it over time.. etc.
To me, that just defeats the purpose of the app. I'm not going to live
in this app, I just want to use it.
I also prefer the look of a simple on/off toggle, to the various methods
of showing that a particular icon is activated or not. For instance, I
can't *stand* the speakerphone toggle on this phone.

As for the name. I thought Quick System Tasks was absolutely to
the point. Lessee.. these are all various system related tasks,
and the app provides one quick way to access them all. Works for me.

And please don't take this is a criticism of the app. It's just sort of
a general comment on pushing style over substance in an app
    that's all about substance.
