Hey Greg,
this is perhaps a silly question but which plugin do i have to use for Y! only. Here in germany the yahoo contact/calendar sync works out-of-the-box but for messaging you can only use gtalk and AIM

(
german forum ).
Do i have to install the allplugins (org.webosinternals.
messagingallplugins) or is org.webosinternals.
messagingsysfiles and org.webosinternals.
messagingpatch enough?
Would like to keep it as slim and clean as possible
Hi guys,
Good news I have packaged up a version with gtalk fixed and jabber on GSM fixed.
As its 2am I really need sleep and a clear mind. Tomorrow I will test it to make sure everything works and then release it. So bare with me just a little longer.
For those of you with MSN signing on forever.
Could you try adding a live email account or if you already have one remove it. Then let me know the results.
If the above fails could you also try the following commands from a root?
cp /var/luna/data/dbdata/PalmDatabase.db3 /var/luna/data/dbdata/PalmDatabase.db3.backup
sqlite3 /var/luna/data/dbdata/PalmDatabase.db3
.load /usr/lib/sqlite3_palm_extension.so
delete from com_palm_accounts_account where name='Live Messenger' AND com_palm_accounts_AccountType_id IS NULL;
.quit
Thanks,
Greg

I have just reset the emu to stock, and tried it that way and still have the same outcome.
Could you please list "your" steps just in case I'm misunderstanding or missing something please?
Thanks.

Hi gizmo21,
org.webosinternals.messagingsysfiles and org.webosinternals.messagingpatch is enough to enable yahoo on the GSM phone

Hi mr71mb0,
Might be worth redownloading the file. It looks like it may be corrupt as it says file not found.
I'd re-download and create a clean VM once more.
Let us know how you go.
Thanks,
Greg

Hi Greg, Just for feedback.
I reset the vm, re-downloaded the files and still the same.

No I turned off my backup then doctored it and started fresh. when I was back at 1.3.5.1 I installed preware and the GNU from there. Then used WOSQI to install the sysfiles 2.0.1 and rebooted. Then used WOSQI to install the patch file after it finished I installed the plugin for all. Everything works as best I can tell , but I still can't connect to Groupwise. I copied the security certificate for it as well but still no luck.

Greg,
Just to update further I have managed to get it installed on the Emulator.
I'm 100% sure I was following the steps correctly and in my last try where it worked the steps were the same as I'd previously been trying.
I went back to scratch and re downloaded WebOSQI (my previous version was 2.96 and the re-downloaded is 2.96).
except this time, the sys patches gave me the script warning and restarted Luna. The Patch then also went on fine. So I'm not sure what the exact reason for the error was but it's now on and testing.
Many thanks for your time.
Greg,
So in some further testing I still cannot connect to Groupwise. Here's what I've found so far. On all the other IM accounts it has my username listed as
username@gmail.com for instance. On groupwise it has
username@gwim.com which could be part of the issue since it should probably show the domain the account is assosiated to (just FYI I do have this email account assosited to the phone via imap). At least thats my guess. is there a way to modify that? also here is what happens as I try to sign on with different connection.
Connecting over sprint it gives an error after about 3 minutes saying "unable to connect to the server"
Connecting over public wifi I get the same result after about 3 minutes saying "unable to connect to the server"
Connecting while on our secure network at work (since I'm attempting to connect to their messenger) it attempts to connect with the wheel spinning but never connects or gives an error.
For those who are complaining about battery draining I think that is normal because when you don't use a messaging plugin, the wifi/3g will turn off when the phone is idle and locked. When you use this plugin wifi/3g will be on forever.
Correct me if I'm wrong...

Correct me if I'm wrong...
Using the stock gtalk, keeping logged on, doesn't drain the battery as fast as the Live plugin, for example. I think it may be because of the plugin being stuck in a login loop forever.
Curiously, if I let the Live plugin keep "Logging in", it keeps downloading my contacts (online and offline), altough very slow. In about 4 hours I got about 50 contacts.
Maybe if my contact list were shorter.... Time to delete some!
Yep, just for clarifying, I logged in with another account (only 3 contacts), and it stopped spinning quickly!
Just an update. MSN works now with 2.0.1 I removed all the messaging patches (except for the LED indicator) and it works with MSN.

I think Greg has already highlighted this as an issue to do with some differences in some of the libraries he was using and should have a fix out soon (mentioned something about tomorrow pending testing etc).
should stop the battery drain issue.
I could be completely wrong but just check a few pages back.

@mumbassa & all with the problem of disabled fields:
Try switching the language of your Pre to "English/US" and then try to add your accout. That solved this problem on my pre.
Later you can set the language back to your own language.
hello all
since i am having problem with msn i would like to root my pre and repost the problem to greg
but the problem is that i am not familiar on how to root it and use these commands
can some one please point me in the right direction please .........

sqlite3 /var/luna/data/dbdata/PalmDatabase.db3

Well... while the commands above are not too complicated or dangerous in any way, I just wanted to caution you that when going to command-line, you can cause damage to WebOS, so just be carefull.
The easiest way to go to terminal in my opinion, is when you have your phone on Dev Mode and connected to the computer, run the following program (Assuming you have the SDK in that location)
\Program Files\Palm\SDK\bin\novaterm.exe
Click the "Connect" button, and voila, you should be in.
good luck.
sdk?

Sorry... I made an assumption... and we all know what that makes me.
You can either install Terminal program directly on your Pre using PreWare WebOSInternals Feed, or you can download the Mojo SDK from Palm (just google it) to have novaterm. I don't know if there's an easier way to get novaterm without installing the SDK, but you might want to google that too. Novaterm is Palm's terminal program. If everything that I am saying here is greek to you, you probably shouldn't mess with it anyway...
Good luck in any case.
