    I don't know how I missed this...

    Are you still having this issue?

    Are you trying to just stream audio, or are you trying to stream video? A quick question to Google turns up mostly things related to streaming video.

    Ah! I've been playing with some advanced/aggressive "transcoding" recently as well and the Pre want's nothing to do with it. I'm not chanign formats, but, just ways to improve "listen-ability" in the car of most songs.

    Are you trying to convert "mp4" into "mp3" by any chance? The mp4 can support video as well. Perhaps it's getting thoroughly confused because of the extension. *I KNOW* this doesn't explain why it works over WiFi, though. Can you post your transcoding command (or that whole section of the ampache.conf file)?

    Only converting FLAC and non standard MP3s. I have MP4s enabled, but I don't have any music in MP4's.

    ; List of filetypes to transcode
    transcode_m4a = true
    transcode_m4a_target = mp3
    transcode_flac = true
    transcode_flac_target = mp3
    ;transcode_mp3 = false
    transcode_mp3_target = mp3
    ;transcode_ogg = false
    transcode_ogg_target = mp3

    ; These are the commands that will be run to transcode the file
    transcode_cmd_flac = "C:\xampp\flac.exe -dc %FILE% | C:\xampp\lame.exe -b %SAMPLE% -S - - "
    transcode_cmd_m4a = "faad -f 2 -w %FILE% | C:\xampp\lame.exe -r -b %SAMPLE% -S - -"
    transcode_cmd_mp3 = "mp3splt -qnf %FILE% %OFFSET% %EOF% -o - | C:\xampp\lame.exe --mp3input -q 3 -b %SAMPLE% -S - -"
    transcode_cmd_ogg = "oggsplt -qn %FILE% %OFFSET% %EOF% -o - | oggdec -Q -o - - | lame -S -q 3 -b %SAMPLE% -S - -"

    I've spent the past 2 days troubleshooting SSL problems and thought I would post my findings in hopes of saving someone some time in future.

    When you create a self signed certificate make sure the common name is same as the server url, ie if your server is hxxp://myawesomeserver.dyndns.org make sure you set the common name in the cert to "myawesomeserver.dyndns.org" without the quotes of course. Browsers (including the browser on the Pre) don't care what the common name is but apparently the backend that Ampache Mobile and Ampachpre use does.

    The problem manifests in both Ampache Mobile and Ampachpre if you try to connect using SSL when the common name in the cert is different than the server name requested by very quickly throwing a no response from server error. Lighttpd shows
    Code:
    2011-04-11 18:04:07: (connections.c.279) SSL: 1 error:14094416:SSL routines:SSL3_READ_BYTES:sslv3 alert certificate unknown
    2011-04-11 18:04:07: (connections.c.279) SSL: 1 error:140940E5:SSL routines:SSL3_READ_BYTES:ssl handshake failure
    in the log and I'm sure Apache shows something similar.

    The good news it's all working now and I can enjoy my music (just about) anywhere!

    UPDATE: Well, for whatever reason a complete reboot of both my Pre and the Windows 7 Server fixed this issue. Kinda weird, but whatever.... :)

    Same problem here after I recently rebuilt my home server and upgraded to Windows 7.

    Xampp and Ampache are installed fine on the new server. And my router is configured to forward the Xampp port to the server.

    From another local computer I can access http://localserveraddress:port/ampache as well as http://my dnsalias address:port/ampache. Music streams fine to that local machine via the browser and flash. I haven't tried to access from a remote pc.

    But, when I try either address on my phone (connected to the local network via wifi) I get the handshake error.

    I uninstalled Ampache on my phone (original Sprint Pre) and reinstalled from the App Store. But the same problem continues.

    Any thoughts?

    I installed 3.6.1 alpha of ampache after having some weird problems with the last version. Do you have plans to support smart playlists?

    Also, not sure of you can help, but I've also got a weird problem where about 1/2 of my .mp3s (no mp4 or flac) have the artist listed as 6'27". This appears on both the web and ampache mobile. I assume its not reading the id3 tags correctly for the artists, as the album and tags (genre) and year show up correctly. Any ideas? I've tried updating from tags, but that didn't help. Also, these mp3s don't have special characters, these are normal mp3s, some ripped, some downloaded.

    Does anyone know of a quick way to tell the Ampache server to update the catalog? I add songs to my library remotely through the Pre, and I find using the phone browser cumbersome when it comes to opening the server address, logging in, hitting the settings button, catalogs...etc.

    I think there's a way to do this with a command line (my server runs Linux), but is it possible to use a Pre Terminal app?

    Hi there using sprint original palm pre. I have ampache up and running, can connect and browse catalog just fine over wifi and evdo, however when playing a song over evdo, buffering takes about 30 seconds, after song starts I get about 30 seconds of music then rebuffer.... Is there bit rate settings inside of ampache I am missing. Everything seams to work fine if I am connected to wifi. I have played around with the buffer settings in account extras but nothing seams to help. I have read through the forums and wiki's and am not sure what I am missing...

    When you log into Ampache on your PC you can change the transcoding bit rate by going to the settings page (little computer tower icon or wrench depending on your skin) and clicking on the Streaming link under Server Config (left hand side, near the bottom of the column). Another thing would be to make sure your files are in a more Pre friendly format such as .mp3.

    Hope that helps!

    Thanks Mark, aside from doing this I also went ahead and ran "apt-get install"... faad, ...mp3splt ...lame. on my Ampache ubuntu server box. I am not sure which one fixed my issue, but audio seams to stream great now. I have a question about streaming video though if anyone has some background I am curious which format, options for video files works best with ampache mobile. I tried converting an avi to an mp4 using the H.264 codec, after the media player launches the video from ampache mobile I am told the video type is not supported...??

    While using the Handbreak program I set it to the Iphone/Ipod touch setting and just tweak a few things. One thing you need to do is make sure the file extension is .m4p and not .mp4. Handbreak has an option in one of the preference menus to always force the conversion to be .m4p so you don't have to manually change it all the time. I won't be home till later tonight or I tell you exactly where :P

    The only other thing I really do is set the audio to a slightly lower bitrate just to cut a few mb off the file size, which might not even be necessary.

    It's endless. I've let it sit 5 minutes now and it was still going. Can anyone explain why, and how to stop this? It ends as soon as I close Ampache Mobile. Streaming over EVDO is hard enough without all this CONSTANTLY going on in the background.

    Thanks!

    I've just tried to disable Apache's KeepAlive. It still does this with that disabled.

    It's endless. I've let it sit 5 minutes now and it was still going. Can anyone explain why, and how to stop this? It ends as soon as I close Ampache Mobile. Streaming over EVDO is hard enough without all this CONSTANTLY going on in the background.

    Thanks!

    M.
    Sorry I've been M.I.A., it's been a busy spring. Looks like the ping timer is isn't resetting properly, it is intended to ping the server every 5 minutes or so keep your session alive.

    I am running on a Pre 2 and am not seeing the behavior you are seeing.
    Ampache Mobile allows you to stream all YOUR music and videos from your computer to your phone.

    Please take a look a these Common Issues before posting to the Ampache Mobile thread.

    Hi! Welcome home!

    Is this something in the app or on the server? I'm leaning towards the app since (for grins) I installed the other Ampache app and I'm not seeing this there.

    I'll reinstall just for grins.

    OK. New install. Same thing.

    I tried disabling KeepAlive on the server as well, and that didn't change anything either.

    Buffers: 2
    Allow 2G: True
    Art: False
    Fetch: 75
    %20: False
    Stall: True
    Timeout: 600 (yes, on the server too)

    # Edit:

    src/javascript/AmpacheServer.jsjsjs:$16$:$var$ $DEFAULT_PING_TIME$ = $1000$ * $120$;

    How is that 5 minutes?

    Bryce,

    Someone here as given me access to his Ampache server temporarily. He won't be won't be able to check his logs until later this evening (eastern time), but, I gave him access to mine and his Pre is doing the same thing.

    Clearly this doesn't rule in or out much until he looks at his logs. I just thought I'd let you know that there's some underground testing going on.
