A quick question: would it be possible to set up a server profile for local playback? Right now I use a different app for controlling VLC through my PC speakers, but your app is so robust and ampache already has HTTPQ support built in so... Any chance of you implementing this?
Another solution would be to create a new 320x480 theme in Ampache and create a user in Ampache that has that theme. You would then just use the browser and access the Amapche server directly.

    See http://ampache.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=5&start=0

I know someone started one, but they didn't finish.

Maybe we could get a few people together to do this?

This is a pretty common problem that most people hit.

Make sure you check out the section "Works on Wifi but not EVDO" at CommonIssues - ampache-mobile

Actually if u have it working in WiFi thats probably not your issue.

There is a section on the Ampache Mobile wiki devoted to your issue.

I got HttpQ working with Winamp. Pretty cool stuff, though I need to find out how to do "send and clear on add" with localplay.

DynDns is only used to store your external IP. The main benefit of this is not having to remember the number and if your IP changes frequently they offer a small program that keeps it in sync.

Once you have DynDns storing your external IP using (XXXX).ath.cx is no different than using your actual Exteral IP address. From there on out everything is handled by configuring your router.

If you put http://(XXXX).ath.cx/ampache in for the address a request will come over the internet from your phone to your router. The tricky part is the port.

http://(XXXX).ath.cx/ampache will come to your router at port 80, thats the default for http://

If you want it come to your router with a different port you simply change the URL. For example: http://(XXXX).ath.cx:5000/ampache will result in your phone talking to your router at port 5000.

So thats all fine and good but you want your phone to talk to your computer and not just your router. Thats where port forwarding comes in.

If you enter your router configuration it should have a section called port forwarding some something to that respect.

From there you need to tell your router if something comes in at port 5000 send it on to your computer.

Provided your computer is listening to that port and its firewall allows incoming connections it should respond. By default most web servers are listening to port 80. If this is case and you direct port 5000 to it, it will not hear you because its not listening. You can change the listen port in httpd.conf.

This is all covered in the common issues wiki btw.

Weird.. I just threw the DLL in the plugins directory, restarted Winamp, gave it my IP/port/password, changed my localplay type, added a new localplay instance and got going.

That "Send and Clear on Add" thing looks much more complicated than I thought it would be.

Ok... got it working. Didn't do anything different other than reopening winamp.

Looking thru the Ampache API the only features for localplay are...

next (Advance to Next Localplay Item)
prev (Return to Previous Localplay Item)
    stop (Stop Localplay Instance)
    play (Play Localplay Instance)

I can find no way to load a playlist or change the volume. So it looks like controlling Localplay with Ampache Mobile is not viable with the current API.

Can you give more details please?

What are you putting in for WiFi if that works?

What port forwarding rules have you setup in your router, what model is your router?

    What ISP do you have?

For WiFi. Here's my setting that works

    http://192.168.1.1.x.x/ampache-3.5.4

That works perfectly. So does (xxx).at.cx/ampache-3.4.5

But when i switch to 1x. i try to connect to port 8080 which i created in my router or a whole bunch of other ones i created too. but it times out

    http://(xxx).at.cx:8080/ampache-3.4.5
Your server will only listen for connections on the port its configured to use. If its working on wifi with the URL you posted then its currently listening to port 80.

Unless you created a rule in your router to forward port 8080 to port 80 what you are doing will not work. Also some routers do not support routing one port to another, what router do you have?

What you need to do is enter a port forwarding rule like this.

    Possible Issue 1:

If your router support changing the destination port you need a rule like this:

    Code:
        Incoming Port: 8080
        Destination Port: 80
Destination IP: 192.162.x.x (This is whatever IP you use on WiFi)

    Possible Issue 2:

If it doesn't you need a rule like this:
    Code:
        Incoming Port: 8080
Destination IP: 192.162.x.x (This is whatever IP you use on WiFi)
Also you need to add a line to your httpd.conf (C:\xampp\apache\conf\httpd.conf)

    Find the line:
    Code:
    Listen 80
    and add
    Code:
    Listen 8080
below it, save and restart apache.

I would also check the remote administration settings of the router you're using. Some can default to :8080 as the default remote administration port.
