    It looks like you are running in Vista and not having the same issue as mondmc1. What is in the details of the error message? Just to verify you are running as administrator, you dont have any programs like mcafee or norton internet security running?

    I'm using Vista 32 bit, have the firewall off, exceptions added, port forwarded, running as admin and still getting nothing. i checked to make sure the port is open and forwarded using yougetsignal.com and it says that it is. i'm familiar enough with port forwarding to believe i've done everything i can to get this to work but still no dice. i spent pretty much all day trying to figure it out but i'm just lost. any ideas? thanks.

    ************** JIT Debugging **************
    To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
    application or computer (machine.config) must have the
    jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
    The application must also be compiled with debugging
    enabled.

    For example:

    <configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
    </configuration>

    When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
    will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
    rather than be handled by this dialog box.

    ^^^^^^^ I have done the following as well...

    first follow all steps on Media Remote's website which are:
    1. Unzip the server application in you favorite location
    2. Right click on the EXE in the extracted folder and choose Send Shortcut to Deskop
    3. Now the server is on your pc now to insure it can listen for requests from the pre (must run as an administrator)
    1. Find the shortcut on your desktop and right click
    2. Choose properties
    3. Click the advanced button
    4. Check the box to run as administrator.

    THEN
    go to Start-Control Panel-Windows Firewall-Change Settings-Exceptions-Add Port- From here I named it Media Control (but anything will do) and added port 63342.
    Now it works fine! Good luck and thanks for this program since it allows me to live life in a more lazy fashion.

    The same error message showed up when I launched it from my desktop but when I made sure the folder cntaining the .exe was extracted and then opened it from the folder it didn't show up. There must be some file in the media remote folder that it needs to run other than the .exe. I am also running 32 bit vista

    hum.. The error is that it cant listen on the port, all the documentation say that running as a admin would solve that issue. I can figure out what is giving you the access denied, do you have anything like mcafee on your pc?

    Okay try this server, it has a small change in how it opens the port. Let me know ASAP.

    Okay, I just did a windows update to vista service pack 2 and it works perfect...

    New Version 0.7.0 Now Available.

    YEAH!!!! OKAY so I am guessing that is the issues people are having with Vista you must be on service pack 2, there must be an issue with not really running as admin prior to that.

    The only unresolved issue is server version 3 not running in XP I think is has to do with the minimize to tray and I have a test version i sent to a user and am waiting on feedback.

    When I try to run version .7 on my windows xp I get:

    WindowsFormsApplication1
    WidnowsFormsApplication1 has encountered a problem and needs to close.
    We are sorry for the inconvenience.
    If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost.
