Our feed update runs every 5 hours, if the feed we're reading from has been updated, we'll get it. It's all timing.

Sometime later this week. We have it working but want to finish testing.

I think the keyboard has been pulled though, because it doesn't work with the new palm update that's coming out.

    Updated to version 2.1.0.

Adding the ability to install using the ipkg service from webos internals. Great job guys.

Also added the refreshing of the messageboard even when minimized and little tweaks here and there.

Nice update, but we still need a "Return to Main" button on your message board screen.

what would you put in the path to put the wallpapers in the current wallpaper directory?

until switcharoo has the ability to use more than one folder, i need the the wallpapers to be but in the wallpaper directory.

    I believe it's "wallpapers".

And the ads - it's better than a pay app.
We had to buy a new server because of the tremendous amount of bandwidth we're using and that comes out of our pockets every month to supply this service. Donations were few and far between and they weren't covering the bill. We had to do something.

will this be able to undo tweaks that you can get in webOSquickinstall? just asking in case you have to delete a tweak on the go due to possible sluggish performance or loss of functionality

No it doesn't. We'd have to store the files the tweaks modify and restore them when you want to remove the tweak. Problem is we'd have to keep up on all the tweaks out there, or have the tweaks copy the old files as backups instead of editing them, plus the need for root access....

Really not much of a standard on tweaks right now and I don't personally recommend them.

Preware and WebOS Quick Install are converging on the patch interchange format in modifications in WebOS Internals - Gitorious

In Preware (e.g. the Virtual Keyboard Patch) we use md5sum integrity checks on the files when applying and removing patches to ensure that things are exactly as expected and that we fail-safe on an OTA update.

I'll have to check it out. Even though I am against tweaks and patches, our users want them.

Check out the postinst and prerm in the virtual keyboard git repo (not the released ipkg) for what we think is the state of the art in patch management via ipkgs.

    http://git.webos-internals.org/?p=pa...ard.git;a=tree

It would be great to have more people contributing to open interoperable ipkgs containing patches that can be equally installed by PreLoad, Preware or the stand-alone IPKG Installer.

    Hey all,
Apologies if this has already been asked, I searched to no avail....

Using PreWare to install MyTether, after clicking past the warning stating a script will be run I received the error "install failed"

However after a reboot, MyTether appeared, and works!

    So, question is:
    Is this normal/expected??

I really think it would be beneficial for everyone the community, if we could come up with a standard for patch management. I do not like the top of the tree vkb postinst/prerm methods that I have pushed because they prohibit touching the files at all after and before install. This would prohibit the use of two patches that touch the same file even if they didn't conflict.

I have some ideas about how to handle things, and I think it would be best for the community to simply handle it with GNU patch. Packaging the patches as ipkgs will allow the standard ipkg dependency management to work.

I would love to discuss things and get a patches-as-ipkgs system in place that will be interoperable between Preware, Preload and Web OS Quick Installer. Along with any other installer that comes along that uses the ipkg service.
