I've used it a few times and it doesn't always find updates. I don't know how "real time" it is but for instance, the latest version of "Yatz" was released today (0.7.5) and I had an earlier version. PreUpdate said that I had the latest.

This has happened a few times. PreUpdate would say I have the latest version, I go to the homebrew page and see that there is a new version.

Seems like there is some lag there.

I just took the Preload plunge. Only thing I will really use is the wallpapers but it was worth the download just for those. Thanks!!!!
It was easy to download with Filecoaster using the url download option

Talk about a memory eater!!!! I spent the past hour or so downloading wallpapers and my phone became progressively more sluggish. Preloader was the only thing open the whole time but now it's running like it's molasses and I have the close cards to create memory icon. What the heck!!

    Glad you like it!
We think you'll be more impressed with the new release - hopefully it'll be ready this weekend.

Just posted in the other preload thread.... I do like the app but after about 45 minutes of browsing wallpapers and downloading ones I like the app has gobbled all of my memory. It's the only thing open but it's saying I need to close cards. I'm gonna have to reboot soon but I'm not looking forward to going through all those pages of wallpapers to get back to where I am now : (

How many pages deep did you go? Scenes in PreLoad, like every other app on the Pre, are stored in a stack. You can go up and down the stack, pushing cards away and adding new ones. This is why we say use the search.

The new version includes categorization so the lists will be much smaller.

will this only look for updates for the apps on pimpmypre? or will it find updates for apps that are on precentral?

All homebrew apps on default feeds on PreLoad - that's us, preware and precentral.

The new version of PreLoad will have this functionality built into it too, so you won't need a separate app.

We're hoping to have that done by this weekend.

actually, I don't think it is preload's fault. It is just like any app. I know when I use the browser, and open up a lot of cards in the course of a few minutes, it eventually becomes really laggy. This has something to do with the pre managing it's closed cards. I've been wanting to address this, enlighten me please?

To all PMP users - there seems to be a lot of confusion on the PreLoad message board about how to install virtual keyboard. Since the instructions will take to long to type directly on the message board from my phone, I am placing them here:

Virtual Keyboard Installation - NO ROOTING REQUIRED

1- Turn on DevMode on your Pre
2- Connect your Pre to your PC and select “Just Charge”
3- On your PC, run WebOsQuickInstall V2.02 and install Package Manager Service
    4- Then install PreWare
5- Turn off DevMode on your Pre
6- On your Pre, run the newly installed PreWare and download Virtual Keyboard Patch

Complete Step by step instructions with screen shots are here:
