IPK is out!!!
Known issues: only works in KM, the selector list on the first scene does nothing heading only works at a brisk pace, need a way to make it more sensitive heading is displayed, unless people like it, I plan on removing it in the future, kind of a debug, for now heading defaults to 0 which is valid instead of -1 which is invalid and can be used as a work around until heading info comes back button does not show text in 1.0.x, I'm not worrying about this, upgrade to 1.1 and you'll be fine This is my path I plan to follow... 0.1.0--first scene is complete 0.2.0--second scene is complete 0.3.0--all interface objects are present 0.4.0--debug only text input for GPS info and reacts to inputs 0.5.0--create bug handling 0.6.0--GPS starts handling debug's variables--Public beta 0.7.0--Notification shows that Handheld GPS is running, notification will only display when tracking scene is backgrounded 0.8.0--when app is backgrounded, GPS pauses, when un-backgrounded loading screen pops up to let users know that it is re-grabbing GPS 0.9.0--Bugs are handled with all aspects, time for new features that everyone will want... 1.0.0--Saving points to cookie or db, Listing points with distance based on the position on loading scene 1, according to distance, and Importing points from sites(this may or may not be important to call it 1.0) Beyond... Current satellite info scene--depends on palm updating our abilities Google Maps integrated in some way, but not in a way to make things too easy ![]() Add landscape mode 3d arrow "This application is licensed under the GPL" Last edited by sgtkwol; 07/30/2009 at 05:39 PM. Thank you for working on this, but I think you started this thread too early.
According to your development path, 0.3.0 doesn't even "work" yet. Last edited by Colonel Kernel; 07/23/2009 at 06:52 PM. |

Since the title says geocaching app, are you planning on letting users import waypoints and/or GPX or direct download from the Groundspeak site? Just curious...looks lke a great app in progress!

I have found those already, Calculate distance and bearing between two Latitude/Longitude points using Haversine formula in JavaScript. There is a link to a more accurate one for distance on that page, but it is more complex, and would use more battery, that may be a preference option in the future.

Glad you asked...Webkit transform - WebOS Internals. If you find more webkit transformations and use them in your app, please add it to the page. The arrow itself is kind of surprise I'm saving for release of the ipk, but I will tell you that the rotate script can rotate anything from tables to images to divs.

I like the app. I was working on a really basic geocaching app for my own use and I may have some features that you may want to add. I had a button that allowed you to search geocaching.com for all of the nearest caches and displayed that in the web browser. I also had one that gave driving directions using google maps. If you want the code for those or want some help or something just send me an email: admin @ treyx.net

Sweet!
Suggestions... Dont even know if this is possible BUT how about search for nearby geocaches without going to the website to search? Be able to use your current location as a bookmark, IE go camping, @ camp make a bookmark of the coordinates, then go hiking. While gone you can find direction of camp. Basically making the phone use your current coordinates for a bookmark GREAT APP! Thanks! |
