I don't like modifying the original files, but dnsmasq.palm.conf also includes a file from another location that is currently empty, i wrote to that file. the usbnet DHCP settings were written to the same location, dnsmasq is being restarted, etc.

It is my understanding that you might be able to tether more then one device on the pre when adhoc is completed, I thought that could be useful, if you like me go to school and want to share your evdo with your mates.

I went through and did some manual config. Edited /etc/network/interfaces to contain: iface eth0 inet static address 192.168.0.21 netmask 255.255.255.0 network 192.168.0.0 gateway 192.168.0.20 metric 40 Edited dnsmasq.palm.conf to interface=eth0 dhcp-range=192.168.0.22,192.168.0.24,12h Turned the wifi on to act as an adhoc basestation. Turned on IP forwarding. Still no DHCP address... hm. Ok, so I set my laptop's wifi to a static IP of 192.168.0.22 with the gateway & netmask settings. DNS set to 4.2.2.1. Still no go. Even if I try to access a site by IP address instead of domain name. This was all over EVDO too... drained almost 20% of my battery lol. |

It would be cool to add this as an option when you plug in usb so you'd have:
Tether Media Sync USB Drive Just Charge I had a mod for windows mobile that did that (minus the media sync). |
