    Hi,

So I have been traveling a lot the past few months the longest tethering i have done is maybe 5-10 min and worked out fine on webos 1.4.0. i now am running webos 1.4.1.1 and have had no issues on my sprint pre with tethering.

keep in mind this was my first time tethering for about an hour so i dont know if thats enough testing time or not but none the less i am at my office where i get 2-3 bars on Evdo if im lucky.... these are my speed test results...
but keep in mind speed test has many variables and does not exactly tell you your connection speed. it tells you your connection speed with the server it is testing to. So if you get crapy speedtest.net results but can browse the phone you are fine.

Since i been traveling i have not been following my tether or keeping in contact with aonic so im not sure whats going on.. i just read a few of the latest posts and figured id test it out and throw this out there

I've never been comfortable with the closed source fee (mandatory donation?) MyTether application, and will migrate to an Android phone in the near future.

Good luck to all of you, Palm is up for sale, and I doubt much new development work will be done on the Palm Pre or Pixi WebOS in the near future (at least by Palm).

At least the lack of new WebOS development should help make MyTether more stable as there won't be frequent new OS releases.

The author has not submitted this paid application to any of the homebrew package feeds, and specifically prohibits distribution of the application in Preware for commercial reasons.

I can confirm 2.1.1 works with Webos 1.4.1.1. The removal process didn't go as planed, Preware froze during the service removal process. I just reinstall, remove (both software and service), and reinstall 2.1.1. Wifi works, needs some TLC though, able to establish connection after two or three tries on both mac and pc laptop.

You can grab it from the donor forum. I think the 2.1 installer works also.

See if this helps (for wireless mode)...First go into Options and make sure Disable Screen Timer is set to OFF then let the Pre turn off the screen, this will helps correct the limited/no network connectivity for me..

MyTether went from 2.1.0+ to 2.1.1 I think about 2 weeks ago

Keep an eye on the donor forum. Aonic has confirmed there are still issues with 1.4.1.1 and is going to work on it this weekend.

I have been only able to get wifi tethering to work 2 or 3 times, and always at my own house where it's not much help as I have wireless internet already. I really need to be able to tether my laptop when at my mom's house (hanging out at McDonald's right now to use their wifi).

Here are screencaps of the messages I see. Troubleshooting gives me a message that says:

I tried this, but get the following error message:
'novacom' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
Any ideas on what to do?
I did run services.msc and it does show Palm Novacom as started.
    Thanks...arniep

    3. Connect your phone to the computer using your USB cable. Select "Charge Only" on the Pre
    4. Go to (I'm assuming you're on Windows here) Start -> Run and type 'cmd' (without the quotes) and hit enter.
    5. Once you're in the command prompt, type 'novacom -t open tty://' (again, without the quotes).
    6. You'll see a prompt root@castle:/# ←[J which means you're in! Type whatever commands you want (but be careful! very easy to hose your Pre when you're logged in as root!)

That is how you access linux (formerly called rooting the pre) on your Pre. Yes, it really is that easy.

are you using an ipforward app? you may want to install freetether and freetetherd to run along side with mytether. that is what I needed to do to fix it. Tethering probably worked for you prior to 1.4.1.1. that update screwed everything up and then i needed to use freetether.
