Suggestion (on top of making missing parts working):
develop the indicator that will indicate pressing of action key - so when I punch in 234.67 x 456.921 I get the notification that I have pressed "x" and app has noticed that. Otherwise - as touch screen's got no tactile feed-back, and keys are so small, I can never be sure!
