Maybe if there is some logistical trouble organizing the event maybe we could have a low key meetup of Chicago webOS devs and fans.

That would be fine by me too. Of course a larger event would be awesome, but just a chance to mingle and chat about webOS would be cool too.

No more deets yet. They're coming, though. I promise.

For now, why not get a small meetup together to celebrate the launch of the TouchPad? We'll be doing that in Columbus here shortly, it looks like, with some other groups doing that as well.

Alright, anyone else in for a small meetup, or will it be just me and MGb?

I'll bring the pizza. You bring the beer! I only offer that because it's Little Caesars and I don't drink...

PS - Can't do a launch day meetup cuz I'm heading outta town that day for a week, but if there's interest, don't delay on my account.

It is a little bit shameful to eat Little Caesars in Chicago.

That's like eating Steak and Shake's spaghetti chilli when you could instead have Skyline.

Tim knows what I'm talking about.

    So then...Pizza hut?

    getting warmer.

So after some twitter discussion, it looks like we would meet at a bar or restaurant in Schaumburg, IL. I suggested July 8th, but we can push that back if it is too soon.

    Other thoughts?

    One question.

Can under 21ers enter a bar? I don't know as I've never tried to enter a bar only facility.

If so, I'm up for either. Saturday would work better for me but I'll work around a Friday and try to come up.

Yeah, bar only would be pretty restrictive. A place like Moretti's in Schaumburg has a bar area, plus is a restaurant, so under 21ers wouldn't have a problem - in theory...

July 8th/9th is tentative for me, the 15th/16th would be an easier sell for me.

With all of the meetups popping up around the country (and the world, for that matter), I'm glad to see something finally getting ready to go down in Chicago.

Nice to see a meetup organizing in Chicago too. I'm about an hour north of the city. Would be great to meet some fellow webOS users near me at last!

    15th/16th works for me

You know. An evening in July seems to suggest perhaps a place with an outdoor patio might be nice. Moretti's in Edison Park (O'Hare area) has one, but I'm not sure about Schaumburg.

So it seems we might be looking for
    1. July 15/16
    2. Outdoor patio
    3. Centrally located in/near Chicago
    4. 20 and under friendly

    I miss anything?

Dumb question - do we necessarily need to go for a weekend? Sometimes, depending on attendance expectations, restaurants/eateries will be more accomodating on "slower days" during the week, sometimes even offering a small discount for group members. Just a thought.

I like the weekend since I have obligations some weeknight. If this becomes a regular thing, we can vary the day of the week.

I imagine this first meeting will be pretty informal and laid back, but if we need a projector or classroom sized space at some point, I might be able to reserve a room at Northwestern.

ok, so for this first meet, we'll focus on the 15/16th. i'll browse around and see if any places jump out at me...

Is there any preference between Schaumburg, Edison Park or somewhere else?

There is a great pizza place near Edison Park called Pequod's Pizza

Not that I am obsessed with pizza or anything.

True, tho we're getting into a the city a lot more with that option. Maybe if those interested can post here with a general area they're coming from it might give us a better idea of where we can meet geographically speaking. I'm in the O'Hare area.
